W8 has the same Windows Update facility that pretty much every Windows incarnation has had before it. For anything else, such as printers, graphics cards etc, you go to that manufacturer's website, download and install.

If you've come across a site where it wants you to pay, then get out of it, and quickly.

I've never paid for any drivers, and never will.

If you go to the microsoft download website, you can select to automatically download the updates.
A little screen will appear saying windows will close in xx seconds for updates, you can select yes or no.
I just normally say no and continue what I am doing on the 'puter, when I've finished,I just close everything thats open and shut down.
It will automatically install so much % before it shuts down. When you start it back up,it will finish the install. :D:cool:

cheers

Even though my computer is reasonably new I believe that some of my drivers need updating. Jim

there are programs out there that will update all your drivers,,
the one at filehippo.com is one,
I have never used it but regularly use the site and have never had any funny files appear.
