Start with this!

Who can guess what this is ?(should be easy!)(trying to keep thread interesting!)

Interested to hear what numbers etc indicate what dates on different ones.

For instance I have this with "LK51 32 rb1-2" or it maybe "LK51 32 pb1-2"
I assume this is a 1951 part (its on a '52 80") -But wondered how accurate this would be across the board with these parts etc

anyway interested to hear how to date them (all makes) if someone knows.

and other than the obvious (eg date plate on radiator) how do we date other parts? (and examples please)

Cheers

Thanks BSF! obviously my attempt to be cryptic with the photo didnt work!

this one date wise is obvious... (same car as well)
so... what is it off, do the numbers mean anything else
(other than Oct 1951)

Cheers

is that a coil?

well...that didnt last long! Good Job Bluey!

Indeed it is, the original coil for my '52 80".

any ideas people what the numbers can tell us (if anything?)

feel free to post your own bits etc and hopefully we can all learn along the way. (drag bits out of your spare buckets if you have to!)

Are you sure 10 means October? I thought LUCAS parts were dated by the week? In this case the 10th week of the year. Anybody? .W.

Thats interesting!

The radiator is dated 10/51, rims 10/51 , so assumed oct /51 as is a 52 80"

but nothing to say this was not made earlier than that... anyone else heard that theory?

You're right ,I just had a look at the dates on some on my Lucas parts in the shed and none of them has got a number higher than12. I wonder where I got that idea from ? .W.
