Anyone know the current price per kg of lead?
Just did a quick count and I have over 1500kg of batteries.
Who are the good scrap recyclers in perth?

Not sure by your price would be better if you stripped the lead out.
Disposing of the acid would be hard. I have a mate who is a scrappy if you need more info.

Don't think I want to be doing that, plus a fair few are AGM's or GEL.

Broke down a couple of batteries last year. Bugger all lead in them, other than the terminals.

Your batteries actually probably contain something around 65% lead sulphate and a lead/selenium/antimony alloy.

Dylan, the scrappie that picks up the batteries at our tip pays us $1.00 each. One of the blokes at work collects them,he takes them to a scrappie yard in Mandurah, gets $3.00ea.

More info,
You may get up to $300 per tonne for batteries in Perth. It used to be $500. For this price you would need to deliver to a yard.
Not really worth it.

It is if you are keeping them out of the environment and they are getting recycled;);););););)
We press all the cardboard at the tip.It costs labour to press it and eventually load it in our trucks, then there is the cost of taking it to the city.
The cardboard doesnt cover the costs, however the cost plus the return is much cheaper for us than digging the dump holes to bury it in;);););) Unfortunately burning isnt allowed.

You need to value add, set a side a big area , wet the cardboard cover and get compost worms to eat it up, then sell the castings;)

Hi there Dylan,
I take all our off-cut copper wire to Smith's Metal in Malaga. I've seen Batteries there but don't have a clue on what they pay. Might be worthwhile to give them a call to check.
Cheers, Jurgens.

With that many batteries and if you can deliver I would ring around for the best price - saying you have approx??Kgs and can deliver?
Lead prices must have gone up, last time I looked into it they were only about 50cents each.

Simms at Welshpool have a sign up advising of large fines if car wrecks/bodies are brought in with the batteries still in them.
