Puma driveshaft loose

2010 Puma - did a bit of bush-bashing last weekend, nothing strenuous, couple of days later i realised i'd lost one of the wheel centre caps, the rear left ... didnt think much of it.

On the phone to Land Rover to get a replacement I realised that the reason it fell out is that the 5 bolts that hold the drive-shaft on behind it have come un-done :eek: If you pull on the end cap thingo it floats back and forth.

I'm having L/R check it out, obviously i'll take the wheel off and tighten them up before I drive it in - just wanted to know if there is anything else i should ask them to check? Is this a symptom of something else drive-train related? These bolts are supposedly loctite-d in, and its a little un-nerving that they should work their way loose under normal conditions.

Bolts are loctited "new". Never had a problem with the "Serviced" bolts torqued properly into their elastic range.

a few reasons this may happen at the LR factory when being assembled:

It was Monday morning
It was Friday afternoon
It was 1 min from smoko and the kettle had just boiled.
It was 1 min from lunch and the FA cup was being played live at the local pub
Shift change at point of loctite running out
Knowing the UK and their understanding of Electricity, the compressor to run the torque set rattle guns was struggling and could not produce the pressure required to reach set torque...

of coarse these are just a few possibilites......

car has 62,000km on it, its not fresh out the factory... but yes appreciate the sentiment... seems like everyone thinks they had the Solihull friday afternoon car :rolleyes:

FWIW I checked the other 3 wheels by removing the centre wheel cap - the bolts appear fine (tight). All 5 bolts on the rear left are unscrewed all the way so they top out on the inside of the wheel itself.
