Devon4x4 bits for Defender

I am in Devon UK for the next week and need some advice. I intend purchasing a Defender and will fit the usual bits to make it a useful offroad camper. Are there any light weight bits and pieces like switches I should get whilst here or is the freight cheap anyway?

Lightweight stuff is usually pretty cheap to post.

Honestly, if it were me and I hadn't actually bought the Defender yet, I'd save my money and the buy parts I needed later on rather than ending up with parts sitting there that never get used. It would probably work out cheaper overall.

Unless you are on a business/ first fare or something else with a massive luggage allowance I think that even small things will be a couple of kilos and so barely worth it. I am sure if you went into the store you would end up with a whole container load so it might be a high risk strategy to even go in!

Maybe some trim items or hoses, switches and things like that would be light enough.

The other point is that if you buy it while you're there, you'll get hit with the 20% UK VAT, which you may or may not be able to have refunded as you leave.

Devon 4x4 is one of the most reasonable UK sellers in terms of pricing and P&P. Their online shop is set up such that dimensions and weight of each item automatically modifies the shipping costs, so you can play around with extras without much affecting the shipping cost.

As an example, I bought a Mantec steering guard from them and it cost me $280 landed in Perth. That is 13 kilograms of steel and aluminium packaged to incur least freight cost. I also bought 6 no ZU Alloys from them which was airfreighted to Karratha in the Pilbara for less than I could buy 4 no of the same in Perth...

As the guys posted earlier, the penalty on airline luggage is significantly more than the postage would be and the online shop is a very useful tool.
