What sort of pressures should a loaded up 19in tyre be lowered to for sand driving. The reason for my asking is that I'm heading out into murray-sunset np for a week of sand driving with a mate who's bringing he's turbo diesel porsche cayanne...19in coopers....I'm driving a defender 130 with 750/16, so have no idea about 19in tyre pressures, thanks in advance.

Well it depends!
If wet I'd say start at 25psi
If recent rain about but starting with some dry sections then 23psi
If really dry and soft then start at 22psi

Generally inland sand is easier to drive on first thing in the morning before the surface heats up, this can change heaps by mid afternoon though.
Trial & Error will show you what works best.

I have found the rears will need 2/3psi more than the front if your car is loaded up.

I know there up to scratch becuase I've dragged it out of creek beds on the strezlecki, birdsville and oddnadatta tracks!!! He gets me on day one across the hay plain, but I tend to catch up fairly quickly in the scrub!

Good on him for getting it out there and enjoying it and the countryside.
