As per the question, I know we've had how did you get your forum name, but for those of us who have bestowed a title upon our vehicles, how did you figure it out?
If anyone can guess how I got Phantom, I'll owe you a 6 pack of beer ;)
And no, despite what my mother says, it's not because it's the Phantom and I'm the Menace  :p

I would have a guess that it might have something to do with "Man who cannot die". Boags premium will do.

Mine are:-
'63 S2a 88" Vet = its a vietnam army vet
'63 S2a 88" Horrie= cause my wife thought it looked horrible (also ex army)
'
'56 S1 109" Juan = because its a series juan ( :) )
'
'52 S1 80" not yet named...looking for suggestions.. Bought from MALLYONS station in a clearing sale... getting slowly closer and closer to the road!!
'
'49 S1 80" (horribly rusty) Hoist= as I bought it with money I was starting to set aside to buy a hoist
'12 Def. 110" Bear= because its big and white and came from Bundaberg, something else big and white from bundaberg is the distillery bear!
others are unnamed (but not unloved...completely!)
As for the Phantom, I know its not because it was a KIT car..
(those who read the Phantom Chronicles (they are not comics!) as a kid
will know what my reference is.)
was your number plate FTM-***? or is it a case of "name bestowed in jungle stays in jungle" (old jungle saying)

Phantom after the F4K, because it goes like a supersonic jet. Our test pilot at Hawker Siddeley back in the early 70's who used to do Post Major Service Test Flights on the RR Powered F4K & J reckoned the F4 proved that if you provided enough thrust to a brick you could make it go through the sound barrier. May apply to TD5 powered square vehicles, although not mine.
My 80" is Lionel - he just looked like one.
The 107" is Thomas after the compressor installed on the floor.
The Defender 110 is Sir Raz - his first owner was a vineyard in Margaret River, and he is red.

Nope on either count, my plates are AKM33G, dad wanted to call it Achmeg, as in it was Achmeds girlfriend. I should never have showed him Achmed the Dead Terrorist :p

Or any other line for that matter

my TD5 is called Bessy.... hmm infact all my cars have been called Bessy. As a Doctor Who fan, I "stole" the name from the third Doctor.
Unfortunately bessy is currently at the Crash repairers getting her rear remoulded, after some Rav4 driver decided to use Bessy to stop quickly.

Some really good incites into how you name your rovers
I have
77 Rangie (soon to be a ute) ...Blatt, Use it just to go for a blatt
89 Rangie ... Black thunder, drove past a mates place and his misses said it sounded like thunder and it's black.
93 Disco ... Ogre, cos it's green, mean, fat & ugly. GQ & 80 series diffs.
96 Disco ... Telly, cos of the rego TEL and it has almost no paint on the roof, it reminded me of Kojak's Telly Savalas.

1995 Range Rover Classic Vogue SE, with working air suspension...
Previously referred to as The Event Horizon, the critical distance from a Black Hole that inexorably sucks it all in...especially money... But a certain softening (of the brain?) of my cynical view - the centre console wood came up nicely with fresh lacquer - encouraged a more...'personal' name...
The Lady Sarah, a quintessentially English name for an upper-class Woman.
Because she has delusions of grandeur, is high maintenance.... indulges in embarrasing and in-appropriate behaviours, causes bad financial decisions to be made. Originally seen as a a breath of fresh air, but now is perceived as past it, - resting too long on her laurels. Notwithstanding, retains a hint of her original attraction. Has glaring faults of which She appears unaware....
- Generates extremes of opinion. Difficult to live without and just as impossible to live with...
Any similarity to the Duchess of York is purely co-incidental.

Jess was named pretty quickly after I got her, totally out of frustration. You know the feeling...
"I jess wanna get home!!" or "I jess wanna get this fixed before I end up with hypothermia!!"
She was always female. Cliches about her making off with all my money and time spring to mind all too easily, but the most fitting thing is that she looks great with her top off!!:p:D
My Forward Control is called Dorothy cos she looks like a big grey dinosaur. And my red Series 3 ute is tentatively called Red Rover (in some ways it's fitting as, like the old game, fixing up another one is like running the gauntlet). With names like those, though, it's looking like I'm running low on imagination.:p
I only really name them so I can say which one I've stored stuff in. Still sounds silly when you consider I live alone..... :D
Dan.
69 2A 88" pet4 (still in disguise), 68 2B FC pet6 (still resting quietly), plus 14 other parts/project cars (1xS2, 6xS2As, 7xS3s).
