This may sound dumb, but does anyone know he best place to get wipers for these? Looks like the whole assembly gets replaced as the old ones just clip off and there is no way to just put a refill in it.

Don't want to go to the stealers if I don't have to....

Tried super cheap or autobarn? I've gone into a random store and they had stock for both my Disco and 1986 County. Arm and blade for minimal cost. (I can't remember how much but I was happy).

Unless the rangie ones are particularly special?

Yeah, tried them, no luck. I have had Bursons and Repco look for them too, but no go. They are longer than most universal arms, so no one seems to keep them.

G'day Gav,

No, you don't need a whole new assembly (unless of course it's broken in some fashion) but you do need a very long blade.

I have used just blade replacements for the last couple of years with great success. I can't really remember what width the backing plate is. IIRC it's a 6mm backing. I've had success with both steel and plastic spines.

I think I still have a spare blade in the garage. I'll have a fossick later and amend this reply with details.

Got my last set from Repco last year. I think they are Trico blades.

yeah what Iain said.

I get inserts from the local Supercheap, they are the longest ones they stock.

As the others have said you can just get the multi -size refills from SuperCheap; $10 for Silicon blades

or optionally they have the complete assembly available

Flex Blade TFB22H for $35 per arm.

Thanks for the replies. I'll have to search further afield than my local suppliers, as NONE of them keep a long enough blade in stock, or said they can get them...

I've tried, 2 supacheap shops, Autobarn, Repco and Bursons without luck. All of them too short...

Just replacing the infill will be a **** of a job, as it is crimped into position every 2" or so, nor just fixed at one end and slide through like most - I have never seen anything like them before.

If someone can tell me a specific store in Melbourne that keeps the longer ones in stock, that would be great, as obviously not every store of each chain stocks them. It could be that no one else in my area drives a Rangie...:D

Cheers - Gav.

Interesting you are having trouble Gav as like the others mine just slid out and I slid the replacement ones back in. Yes they are long.

I think at some stage someone has replaced them with a whole new arm assembly, and like a lot of newer cars now, they don't have replaceable blades, you just clip the blade holder off the arm and clip a whole new assembly in. Only takes a few seconds, but you have to find the bloody things first...

If someone has a standard set of arms, I'd be happy to buy them and just go back to longer blades (if I can find them).

Which store - not at my local one unfortunately, I'll ask if they can order them, but the combined IQ of the staff there is about 37....:D

Flex Blade TFB22H .........;)

Laurie

Umm, Why do you think these make a good replacement Laurie?

I just checked them out at my local SC and apart from not looking like the right fitting to the wiper mechanism, they are 3" too short!!

Now I admit that the assembly may actually fit but that 3" shorter blade length means a lot of windscreen real estate that gets missed.

Just wondering.

Cheers,
Iain

Island 4 x 4 has them cheap at around 5 quid each, aftermarket Britpart or similar, as do a few other UK sources, such LR Direct. The shipping cost can sometimes be really cheap.

I just had some shipped out with two new front airbags and threw a few more service parts in there to make the shipping cost more palatable.

I just tried to put complete assemblies on my D2. Got Calbre ones from Supercheap.
NO CHANCE.
The attachment method to the arm is different to anything I have seen. You have to slide a little plastic sleeve back with"lock" on it, but the new blades are wider so will not fit with any adaptor supplied.
The blades also have to fit into three "sockets" 2 on the wind deflector and one on the wiper arm, and they have to be the exact correct width to fit in.
So I guess I will gte a correct pair from UK.
I like to change complete assemblies avery few years as new assemblies do not chatter like when you put refills into old assemblies.

Doesn't list a front set for a Rangie....

I have ordered a set from Paddocks, but they seem to be on the slowest transport available....

Well, they finally arrived. When I opened the box I saw some dreaded blue packaging... not what I was expecting being the add said 'OEM item' but they fit, so I'll see how they last...

Mine was in for a service last week at my local Landrover specialist. They changed mine without asking.. wasn't worried as they only charged $16 for the pair fitted.

Ones on my wifes honda cost like $60:eek:

I'm sure it would have been easier and quicker to go to the Stealers or a 'Landrover Specialist' but I usually run for the hills when I hear either of those words...:D

In general, I'm the only one I trust to touch any of my cars.

Old thread I know. I just renewed my wipers today using refills on my '08 L322. It required 6mm backed (metal banded) 640mm long.

Not stocked by SuperCheap (Tridon, SCA), Repco (Trico, Repco) or Autobarn (Trico). Max length with the narrow 6mm back is 610mm from all those stores. Burson's had individual refills for sale 6mm backed 710mm long that you can trim down. ~$15 a pair.
Just in case anyone else new to these vehicles has to search like I did.
Or I noticed you can buy in 10x in bulk through eBay for just under $30.
