spot on. Imagine the echo she'd get up, the heat, the sweat you'd get up holding her on the road..........ahhh someone will buy it.

Aah! But you do get a spare,it's in the holder behind the driver on the right wheel arch.

And if it is an original, clean,we'll cared for vehicle with a logbook history (yes, there are still people that do that) then $5,900 plus ORC is reasonable.

cheers

I've been waiting for this to happen. Series Twos have been going up in England with the Series III not far behind. Anyway, that's what happens once a car has been cheap for a long time and then one day people realise that there aren't too many good ones around and oh dear I'd better get a nice one now! Old Range Rovers will be next in five years or so, though pristine originals are already worth quite bit, as usual. The thing with a Series is that it's pretty easy to rebuild them to a high standard, but a Rangie would have to be at least triple the work.

Landy Smurf
31st May 2013, 11:54 AM
i would think finding a good rangie would be harder, but i cant say i have been looking to much
also defenders are holding there value really well now too

Yes, Seppos and Poms will pay a lot for what they want. I think our wealthy people are just boring. :p

Supply vs. Demand?
101's are cheaper in uk - more about
However most other old land rovers are rust buckets in uk.
Maybe the mot free (pre 73?) makes then more attractive too.

As for USA , the lack of new defenders allowed on road means the few that are around from 90's are very limited . Likewise many series are rebirthed or highly restored.

In the end, the old adage " it's worth what someone will pay for it" applies to Land Rovers too.

The series here were always bound to go up.
The first boom I noticed was not long after land rover 60th at cooma( i wonder why hmmmm).
the other thing is the demand is going up but since they stopped making them ages ago, well obviously the supply has declined.
on series 2/2a/3 it seems the project vehicles are still getting about the same as they have got in the past but the good ones or registered ones are getting quite good money.
series 1s have gone through the roof. as people want them but people do not want to part with them.
It seems you can still get 86',107',88',109' project vehicles at a decent price but 80' you have to be very lucky to get a good one

Bit like the Perenties someones buying them up...

Everything has it's price.
With old cars, that can vary a lot. If you want to buy one of my Landys from me, you must have a very deep pocket. If you want to buy them form some of my friends or family, they'd pay you to take them away.
I have had people offer me SII's for free. Some of them going concerns.
And then there is this one. Obviously $59,900 was an error as it is now $5,990.

I was following for some tine a restored SI for $25k being offered by "The Healey Factory". I think it sold. It's not hard to work out why they wanteed $25k. (Time, materials, etc.)
I would love to buy this one.

And of course wanting $5990 and getting that are two different things. I am sure if you went in there with a reasonable offer you could probably buy it. Ebay auctions are really the only way to follow the real prices unless you know the seller or buyer.

Yes that's a gem Mick! It would probably cost you twice that to get a worn out one into that condition.

I recall that 107 Ute (similar to my old one) that was for sale for 25,000 or so. It was mint. I wonder if that ever sold?

You are so right Justin, dreamers or cheapskates waiting for prices to drop. There are a lot of Land Rover buyers who do not even know about forums.

Bit like the Perenties someones buying them up...

It is very likely that if the Defender does not live much beyond 2015 then the price of the Perenties will keep going up and up as the Mercedes are brought into service and the Land Rovers are auctioned to get the best return. You can certainly civilise one of the Perenties as it is an excellent basic vehicle to start with and will last a lot longer than most of Land Rover's more recent "foibly" offerings.

Average Series 2's and 3's are around $3,500 over here now.

Good ones go for up to $5,500.

Even unrego rusted crap-buckets go for around $2,000.

We won't talk about Series 1's, here you can name your price.

Same goes for a legal 101FC.

Funny enough 110 V8s are selling for less than a Series 3 in the same condition?

That 80" is close to a 100 point vehicle, very correct right down to the early tread pattern on the tyres, but would you be willing to use/risk it as a daily or weekend driver in city traffic, when others drive like their cars are disposable items ??

I spent Yesterday morning looking over a few Perenties both 4 and 6 wheelers, as well as a Mog,and some Canter Ambos at a sales yard here in Brisbane, very pleasant morning.

Don't get to drive in the city much nowdays. If I do, it's the daily drive Commodore.
If I had tat 80", on the rare occasions it would go out. I would be pottering around town locally. If it went any further, it would probably be on a trailer behind the 101.

Bit difficult to lift on though. I have enough trouble lifting the spare wheels on.
Much easier to drive or winch the thing up ramps.

Might have a look at it when I pick up Tony's motor.

Just get 6x6 Perentie tray top, then it is a straight drive on,they even have lashing points, well, the one I saw yesterday in the car yard did.

I have a proposal.

You guys buy it and I'll drive across and try it on the back of my 101..

Hey Mick, a friend of the old man has a Mog with a home built spare wheel ramp.I'll see if I can find the pic he sent me. It's a ripper.
