I have read on aulro that light bars not fitted in pairs are no longer legal.

I have a single 40 inch light bar....I will keep it fitted and see what happens.

Put a bit of black electrical tape around the middle of it, technically two lights then, they can't bung you for that apparently. Others have mentioned whether it has an even number of LED's or not, seems a bit far fetched though...

I believe the law is going to be changed to accommodate these light bars in the near future. Although a bit of tape in the middle in the mean time will make them legal.

I recently bought two 12 inch tigerz11 light bars only because I want to face them out a little to the sides to light up the peripheral vision, as LEDs don't throw light very far. I also have a pair of Lightforce 240s to light up down the road.

Cheers

There were comments elsewhere here on the forum recently about people having issues with Tigers11 light bars.

Might be worth a search before committing.

Jono Qld have already moved to change the regs. You would have to expect the other states to follow suit, but the timing could be some way off.

Chook posted a pic of his winch solenoid in the recent light bars thread.
Honestly, I'd be pretty wary of tigerz products, certainly from the latest batch.
I guess as it's a non-essential piece of kit if it fails then you just chalk it up to experience.
I'd be spending my money elsewhere.

thinking about where to install front of roof rack would probably give to much reflection from the bonnet so thinking to mount 30 cm back below the roof rack or on bull bar. has someone a 50' light bar fitted ?

I have a 40" single LED bar (Baja Designs) mounted under the roofrack - between the two front legs. Have a Frontrunner full length roofrack on top.

No glare at all on the bonnet with light bar mounted that far back - but if you have any aerials on the bullbar, you might have a problem. I was getting glare back from a black aerial that is on the front for my phone. The finish of the aerial was a gloss black though - I fixed the problem by putting a length of matt black heat shrink over the section of the aerial that the glare was reflecting back from.

One thing that I have noticed since mounting the light bar beneath the roofrack - the wind noise from up there has increased quite a lot. The Frontrunner on its own was not too bad because of a wind deflector plate mounted below it, but since mounting the light bar there, the noise has become quite noticeable. I'm thinking of possibly moving the light bar to a position in front of the roofrack, but that will probably be too far forward and give me glare on the bonnet. At the moment, I just turn the stereo up. :p
