Gday I'm Jake ;)
My Dad has bought me a Land Rover. It is a 1994 Defender 300tdi. He got it for $2000 because it has a blown clutch and a bit of rust in the firewall. We are going to fix it.
We stripped the firewall, took out the floor and the gearbox.
When we took out the gearbox cross member we found lots of rust in it and the chassis so today we fixed it.
Tomorrow we are going to weld in new footwells in the firewall.

That looks like a good project, I'm sure you will learn some new skills along the way :BigThumb:
Good to see the old truck pulling it home - usually it's the other way around! :D

Good job....looks frightening to me, but your Dad obviously knows what he's doing.
Cheers, Pickles.

Hi Jake, Looks like you and your dad will be having fun working on the defender. Nothing a set of tools and a mig welder can't fix mate.:)

Thanks everyone.
Today we replaced the passenger side footwell. There is still a hole near the gearbox tunnel though so we are going to weld in a piece of angle line.
Tomorrow we will do the drivers side.

Welcome to the forum son. Good effort the last two days, it's interesting how much you have learnt already about measuring, marking, drilling (blunting bits), cutting, grinding, welding, sockets, imperial, metric, hammering, bashing, not giving up and last but not least safety!:)

He's eager to learn and wants to do all the welding himself. I need to get a second helmet so I can give him a decent lesson though. I think he would go through a roll of MIG wire if I let him.

We finished the firewall on the weekend. We have to put Sikaflex on the joins next to stop the rust from getting in.

After we put Sikaflex on the firewall Mum painted it with primer two weeks ago.
My uncle Chris gave us a better gearbox. Thanks Uncle Chris.
It has been raining lots so Mum only got the new paint done on the weekend.

The defender is finished and now back on the road! Today we gave it a clean and the next job is to put a new radiator in it. Uncle Chris, the gearbox R380 works really well and no noise at all, thanks Uncle Chris.:)

Great work on the footwells. I have a similar job to do. Did you buy or make the replacement?
