Hi im wondering the best\fairest suspension for my landy looking at legal 2" shocks and springs, ive been uming and aring for months so many opinions.
Here ill post my quotes for fitted and supplied and my needs
Ironman-$1090 -foam=$1450apprx 720-Supplyonly
Toughdog-$1420 -foam=$1650apprx 1020-Supply only
OME-$1500 foam+$1900apprx
Koni-$1700
Lovels-$1800
Bilstein-$1696
pretty sure all prices are for nitros 4shocks 4 springs
my main needs are daily driving 85% of the time and some medium 4x4 and touring, sometimes i do big ruts etc but not often, i dont have a fridge or anything yet and i have a plastic smartbar, but is it as simple as when i add more weight in the coming years to change out the springs to a harder spring when required? the actual shock can stay the same correct?
Also how hard are springs and shocks to install myself?
Cheers

to change the springs and shocks yourself is not a difficult job, as lond as all the bolts come undone etc, but not too bad.
you might also need to consider protecting the longer shocks, either with extended bump stops or raised shock towers, as they may bottom out under compression and get damaged if you do flex on your ruts.
I found it was cheaper to get a full kit posted from the UK than buy from Oz, this year I got +2" springs, Bilstein shocks, extended braided brake lines, dislocation cones and extended bump stops delivered for $780 from MM 4x4, they delivered in 5 days over a weekend, so worth considering , they also offer a very helpful online service and will supply springs for the weight of your car based on a description (my first new lift so no idea)
fitted with a mate in about 5 hours including lots of coffee and some stubborn bolts.
hope that helps and good luck finding what you're after

If you don't mind me asking, what did it cost you for freight, and who with, I was going to buy an alternator from the UK but frieght was $150, (alt. was $158), ended up buying here (Karcraft $300), seems to be wildly differing costs for freight from the UK, Regards Frank.

Hi Tank,
the $780 was including delivery, from (cloudy) memory it was about $200 freight but the actual kit was so cheap it was still worth it, also this was early this year when the Ozzy dollar was very strong.
company was MM 4x4 (google that you find them), very good web site, even lets you pick your currency so prices in dollars. They do have an odd freight system, you have to buy freight vouchers (1 pound each) and trade them for postage, not sure if its a tax dodge or what, but it seems to keep the price down.
seems to me it just depends what you get as to whether its worth the postage, I needed an alternator this year, worked out cheaper for a local place to rebuild the old one.
hope that helps,
