Hi Gents,
I was just wondering when you were all planning your first service, was
told by dealer 26k, I am thinking around 20k. Has anyone had a quote on A service, I was told around $680. one service a year required or warranty void. I have had car since Feb, 12k already.:o Cheers

Good question....I'm a bit over the service dept after the vibration and water in the fuel issues :(.
Interestingly the windscreen sticker says the first service is due at 12000km..don't know where that came from.
We have done 10000km so far, the majority towing, so will have to get a least an oil change soon.
Might use a local 'specialist' for this rather than the dealer.

ByronB I was told $640 by the salesman when shopping for my FL2 @ Doncaster (ViC) and then a week later the service man quoted $922 at the same dealer...ended up purchasing elsewhere...
I'm thinking of getting a non-LR dealer to change the oil and filter at 13k then coughing up for the 26K service at LR. Have only done <3000kms so far...

I haven't had a dealer service for over a 100k. My average cost is around $350. I gave my mechanic the service chart for it and he's followed it every 12k. I'm on 160k now which means I've averaged about 40k a year. My extended warranty runs out in 3 months so I'm expecting something big to fall out the bottom. :D

I live in Sydney, we have two independant specialists on the North Shore, I am just a little cautious to do my servicing there, as I feel it will always gives Land Rover an out, not to help you, for whatever reason because you went somewhere else. I know dealers charge a lot, however you always have a land rover history, and given what I have read that may help down the track.

Land Rover recommends 26k, it just seems a lot of klms before first service

I have owned and sold a lot of cars, My last three cars were all dealer serviced, and I probably paid through the nose, although my car is paid through a company car allowance, what I have found, when reselling, you do get more with a full dealer service history. My previous car owed me 17k sold it 22k for this reason alone, it was an IX35, and let me say every 15k service at dealer on that was around $600 so if we are paying 800 every 26k probably not that bad. I will ring around dealers, for quotes.

Just another thing, did you all good service books with your car, as I believe all future LR are going to be electronic records only no service book.

I've too thought servicing at dealer might be add re-sale etc, but with the last two cars I've sold —2004 Golf and 2010 Subaru Outback diesel — the buyers have shown very little or no interest in the log book.
