Unlike those soft cross country netballers, we don't need three smokos in a game.

Actually, I used to watch the state of origin matches. They broadcast them just before the gardening shows on a Sunday morning. Actually, I thought it was a gardening show. They used to pick up the opponent and plant him head first in the turf.
A move that is sadly missing from sports today.

Not a fan of rugby league, or that wierd game they seem to like down south, the one where it sounds like the ref has a whistle stuck up his arse, and the players have about a dozen posts to aim at, and they get points if they miss?
However, I will be cheering for the maroons. :D

Ignore the cretins Ian, they will never know what is like to play a Mans game. Rugby comes close, but.... not the real thing. Poor fools, Bob . Btw, a rusted on Qld supporter, but not sure tonight.

I'm quietly confidant Bob, Queensland pride and determination are worth five points.

As I've always known - Paul Gallen is a ****ing grub. What does it take to get sent off in League these days?

So, a swinging arm as third man in on a player who's got his arms restrained is good is it? Weak if you ask me.

He should have been sent off for that performance. Nothing legendary about that - just dirty play.

He didn't show a great deal of professionalism tonight.

Sure he's not the first to do and wont be the last. I agree with the swinging part.
Was just good to see Miles get what he dishes out.

well what else did people expect?
the writing was on the wall, nsw to win the series no matter what it takes...
loaded the games so qld only gets one home game instead of the usual two
shall we say the refereeing was more than a little dubious when nsw were anywhere near the line and downright disgraceful on 3 occasions that quickly come to mind.
and to have a captain of a side throw punches without provocation and not be given at least 10 minutes in the bin, much less walked for the rest of the game, is an absolute disgrace and showing a great example to all the young people aspiring to fill their shoes, not a good look for the nrl i am afraid. when you have the usually biased commentators such as peter sterling also saying that the refereeing was dubious it is a pretty good indicator that it must have been pretty amiss..
that said the nsw team played well and truly all over the qld side in the first half and deserved the win on the night imho.
no doubt blues supporters have moments they thought the were robbed as well.
hope the qld team fire next two rounds ...

Well done Blues
Nothing wrong with those 2 soft punches, but I reckon Gal will get a week for the swinging arm.
Origin is a different game and always has been. No bias in refereeing from my perspective as Qld were completely outplayed. And they managed to start as underdogs again.:o
Funny that neither coach nor Cam Smith had any problem with the little blue. Dont remember Meninga being sent off for smearing Mick O'Conners nose all over his face with that waterpipe he wore on his arm
I'm sure it will be a different game next time.

Good points, well made. Agree on all counts. NSW would want to hope that wasn't their best effort, because that was very far from QLD's.

Paul Gallen punches like a girl. A mozzie bite would have worried Myles more. Didn't affect the outcome.

They were saying on the radio today that Myles only tackled Gallen 3 times in the entire match!
I'm the first to admit that QLD played too poorly to win, but if Sam Thaiaday came into a tackle with a swinging arm then decided to punch Gallen 3 or 4 times, without the other player even fighting back, walked away when the ref was talking to him, then came back and argued with him, he'd get at least 10 min rest.

ok this "its Origin" thing is bull****!....State of Origin is an AFL...or historically VFL game dating back I think 140 years....I may be wrong there. There is no "biffing" or dirty play in the AFL match under the guise of "its Origin" and any play like that would be dealt with severely by umpires and tribunals. There is no need for it and what it really shows is the intellect and real standard of the rugby league code, the stupid attitude of it's supporters to encourage it and the poor control by referees and coaches and the games executives. amen
