My son wants to put 235/85s on a 2" lifted d1,will they fit without surgery?

they will, but when the rear is flexed, they will probably catch on the rear panel, so the corner needs to be trimmed off slightly

I think 235/85's suit a D1 really nicely, and increase the driveability off road by a heap

d1 tdi manual I found them a pain gearing wise for every day driving
V8 or the auto make it less of an issue particularly the auto

Oh and they fitted with a camel cut without issue(Camel cut is where the trimmed the rear guards in the camel trophy so they could run 750r16 tyres or whatever they were)

Yeah sounds about right, mine rubbed at different places when I had offset rims. I've also seen people put spacers on the bracket of the rear quarter panel to push it out a cm or so which helps as well

I've never tried 31/10.5/15 so I can't really comment there but I assume height wise they would be close to my pick of tyres for a disco 245/75/r16 which also gives a near spot on speedo

as above, 245/75R16 (approx 31's) put the speedo spot on, the 235/85's or 265/75's for that matter, are almost a 32 so they are just that little bit taller geared, fit ok with a camel cut though,

just depends if its a daily driver in traffic, a weekend offroad warrior or somewhere in between as to how the gearing changes will affect you.

also depends where you live and if legality is an issue, I have 245/75's for driving to work, legal in Qld, and 265/75's for play, not quite so legal getting to the off road, I find its less stressful to not have to worry it on the daily drive, just something else to concider

I have 235/85's on my 200tdi Disco

Drives great with them and fill the arches nicely. I have a 2" lift on mine too

Not trimmed the arches and not fouled them yet but there is time.

I put 235/85's on my Rangie two weeks ago, took it out to play today and was flexing it up and compressing suspension at the same time and it was catching on the inner guard lip at the back doors, took a slice out of my brand new Bighorn :censored:

I know where's its been hitting so will 'roll' or cut that soon, hasn't affected any outer skins though, so I'm happy.

Also I have a slight lift up front (compensated for winch with PO)

Cheers
Will
