I am interested in the challenge of making whiskey at home.
I know that farmers can make their own ethanol for running farm machinery.
Is it worth the risk (safety wise and legality wise)?
What sort of mash is better to make?

The local brew shop sells distillation equipment. It is officially for distilling your own "essential oils", which is legal... (however they also sell flavouing kits for every form of spirits...)

If you were to make "essential oils", just make sure all your neighbours were kept happy by whatever means are required, as explaining which side of legal you are on is tricky, and on a bad day you can smell the oils from 2 blocks away... ;)
