Don't get me wrong, DSOTM is simply amazing.
But Rumours is just spot on, don't know if it was because they wouldn't get off planes unless there was enough Cocaine for them, or because they were all at each others throats, but boy, is it a great album.
And yes, my girlfriend likes it too :p

Gotta love an original. Good to see. Mind you, my lists on these things always end up like something from "High Fidelity" or what the High Priests of Rolling Stone tend to espouse. Can't help it... great is great.

I'd like to add the following: White Album, Sergeant Pepper, Revolver, Highway 61 Revisited, Abbey Road.....

And when I think of it, when I listen to Tea for the Tillerman I can't imagine anything sounding better....

But I'll stick with BTR. It still leaps out of the groove.

My music tastes vary from heavy rock to modern house music depending on what mood I am in. Rumours is very good but there is nothing like Dark Side of the Moon played so loud the windows rattle whilst lying in a dark room just a little bit ****ed.

There really needs to be some proper metal in this list.

So I'll put forward Opeth - Morningrise. But you can only listen to it on a stereo with enough oomph to smack you round with the kick drum.

If we take metal out of the equation.. then Queen, Innuendo. There is no greater tribute of one of the worlds greatest than his dying expression (the show must go on).

I don't mind a few Metallica songs, the rest just sound the same. Master of Puppets was the only album that ever really enticed me.
Add to that I despise Lars Ulrich with a passion

I think "Off The Wall" is Michael Jackson's greatest album. It was recorded at a time when they didn't want him to go by himself, but he stood his ground and recorded it and the rest is history

Strictly speaking, the question that Muppet asked was "Greatest album ever?", which as three word questions go, is very much open to interpretation.

If it was best selling album of all time, then we could have just gone to Wikipedia and copied and pasted, and killed the thread in two posts.

As it is, I've spent half of the thread with a wander down memory lane, and the other half alternating between thinking "who the hell is that" and "what the hell were they thinking when they proposed that album?". :lol2:
