I am trying to remove my roof lining to fit some sound proofing and I am struggling to get the Christmas trees that secure it out, even when I resign myself to damaging them.
Any one got any top tips?

are you using screwdrivers or the correct trim removal tools available for around twenty dollars which make the job so much easier?

I used a pair of end nipper pliers when I did mine. They were about 6, or 7 inch long, which gave good leverage, and the jaws opened wide enough.
I think I wrecked 5, or 6 of them, which wasn't too bad a casualty rate I think.
Some came out really easy, and others just wouldn't budge.
I got some replacements but they weren't quite the same colour, and were quite expensive at a few dollars each. So its worth taking the time, and trying not to destroy too many.
Good luck.
Remember to nip up the bolts holding the roof down too, most of mine were loose :o

I just did mine on the weekend and used a special tool and a large flat head to help lever it. Best to order some replacement clips on eBay for about $20 for 10 delivered.
What are you using on the roof?
I put dynamat on it. The noise is a little better.

Thanks all, I will try to get behold of a special tool. I assume that it is like a tick removal tool or a thin flat claw hammer, perhaps I could make one?
I have some dynamat and may also use some camping mats or similar.

I got one of these from super cheap. $7 has worked so far but not tried it on the roof. I also bought some roof Christmas trees for the job from a place in the UK, will try and find the details but the were pretty cheap.
SCA Door Trim Remover - Supercheap Auto Australia (http://www.supercheapauto.com.au/online-store/products/SCA-Door-Trim-Remover.aspx?pid=282092#Cross)
Found the Fir tree clips I bought also, http://www.jgs4x4.co.uk/land-rover-defender-roof-lining-trim-fastener---grey-864-p.asp
Delivery is a flat rate up to a certain weight, I bought a few things to make it worthwhile. I just kept adding to the cart until the delivery goes up to the next level then remove something.
