Might have to tie the car down in case it lifts off in a big gust.
Looks pretty expressive.

Yes indeed I was going to go for the similar strut awning by hannibal but this one looks ingenious,
It's quick and gives great coverage... I was wondering about the wind ....they must have tested it though..
Anyway its bought now .....

top extension to the hannibal design......

would be interesting to see how this one holds on a windy day at the beach

i paid similar money for my supawing, although i need poles and a rope or two i reckon it would be cooler underneth as it is canvas

be interested to see your feedback

Why is this in the D3/D4/RRS area? It has nothing to do with any of those vehicles. It should be with all the other awning threads in http://www.aulro.com/afvb/camping-tucker-bush-basics/

Are you sure that isn't a mobile satellite dish? Ir a wind so your defender can fly? :wasntme:
PS: yes it does look good

Similar idea to the "FoxWing" awnings (which don't have a great reputation for standing up to strong winds from what I have read).
Quick and easy to set up. Be interested to hear what you think once you've got it installed.
Cheers

I'm trying to work out what's bolted on over the rear side window ?? Is it a table, storage locker ??
I'm thinking the awning might flap around and be noisy in a high wind

Looks a great piece of kit! Keen to hear how you find it!

Also wouldn't mind seeing a few close up photos of the sides and how they attach when you get throw it on!

I think it will be gone in HIGH wind!!
Not sure about two people having to set up/pack up, wouldn't mind seeing one person doing it ( good size though )

I to would be interested in seeing how it works and stands up to even normal weather, like others my first impression would be that wind would not be its friend.

The Bundutec uses a 'triangular' swing out arm which is much much stronger than the Batwing which uses extruded aluminium arms and support legs. Eazi-awn also have a version of their own on the market now which is mush the same principle as the Batwing.
The Batwing can't be used be all roofracks or RoofTents either since it extends over the top of the vehicle.
I have a Hanibal awning with the same triangular swing out arm arrangement and in all the years of use it's never let me down in even strongest winds. I think these guys are onto a winner with the Bundutec design. Apart from the actual mass hanging on the side of the truck which looks quite heavy.

I like that t shades the cabin at the front, but it is a big :censored: of a thing i think my foxwing is already pushing the limits of size and it looks to be about half the sizeof that. And even with those struts I would still be a little nervous about it in a wind. I am pretty happy with my Foxwing you do have poles and ropes but that gives me a lot more confidence in a wind. Only problem with Foxwing and wind is if you are deploying it with one person, but once set up it is as secure as anything else made of canvas and tied down with ropes and pegs.

I suppose I should put my thoughts on it as I still think the Hannibal wins ever time.
First Impression it looks good in the open position, material looks light weight and a little flimsy, wonder how well it sands up to hash weather conditions?
Can side walls be fitted?
2 people had to put it away, might be a pain on your own.
Out riggers look a little thin.
How does tit fix to a rack
What happens if you don't have a rack how does the other section fix to the other side>
When packed it looks huge on the side of the 110.

So have you seen one of these awnings and if so are they any good?
By the way you forgot to mention Oscar Pistorius, any truth to the rumour once he learns to ride a horse he is thinking of becoming a Pent-Athlete at the next Olympics ...now that he has shown he also knows how to use a hand gun as well as run? ...;)

Looks like a gas cylinder carrier, looking at the type of hose/connections and shape
Also Juddy that would turn the high beam on

Because it gets us all looking at the D3/4/RRS section, a locality where we would otherwise not normally venture.

Yes I have seen some, excellent and wind is no problem, the Landy might blown over with it on in a gust , man a landy can fly of a cliff with that wings.
About Oscar, yes he is in deep trouble, deep deep deep trouble , all evidence is against him.Well you got to take responsibility for your actions.
But some humor here. Not for the sensitive people.

Well I decided to cancel the the order as It looks to big on the side of the rack, I think I will go for the fox wing with folding brackets by prospeed,

have you considered the supawing?.......the defender day out event had a 10% discount with supa-peg last month, i reckon you could get the same discount if you rang them and mentiuon the defender day out.

just checked the price of the fox wing, its a few hundred dollars cheaper than the supa wing.....umm i think i prefer the canvas on the supa-wing it probably weighs a bit more and you do get extra coverage

OK, i didn't know that superpeg has the rapid wing which is identical in design to the fox wing and appeard to be the same price.......canvas v nylon
