Got a call from a workmate that works the weighbridge at work, All those who are into fishing better come over, this is what we saw!
530 kg of beautifull black marlin . It was bought in by the local fisheries guys who had recovered it from a bay just east of Albany. It was spotted this morning by a tourist, barely alive close to shore.
If it had been caught on a line it would have beaten the WA record by 200 kgs . So it is now destined for the local museum after an autopsy.
Wish Id been fishing out there, I would have got it to shore with a whiting rod if I had to.
The cause of death was probably hypotherma, the fish must have come down south in the warm Leeuwin current and got caught in the colder water.
