It is like a moth to a flame with E Bay. You know you should stay away from the light but you are drawn to it. I once owned a one off Dyna 4wd truck. Was a great gadget, but needed a lot more like power steering. Low and behold on E bay at the moment is a Dyna of the same mid nineteen seventy` s vintage in real good condition. It is only a couple of suburbs away. Yes I now admit I strayed onto E bay truck sales in a moment of weakness :( Was just looking at the winch I have in mind. Then I weakened and had a sneaky peek at the truck sales. Dam and there it was. They make a great forward control four wheel drive. Would be a great project. Dam you Evil bay

:Rolling::Rolling::Rolling:

About 5 years ago one of the ladies at work complained to the boss ( in a feeble attempt at brown nosing) that she needed more work as otherwise she "wandered" to Ebay & it was costing her money..
It took the IT Dept about 20 minutes to have it barred for everyone. Boy was she popular - at least until she resigned...:D

I spend equal amounts of time loving and hating eBay.

Sometimes you get some absolute bargains, like yesterday where I won 12 LED bulbs to replace some halogen bulbs in the kitchen lights. Came to $1.

And last night, a pair of genuine Mercedes bonnet gas lift struts. $5.50 instead of the dealer price of $57 each.

But on the flip side, there's the dishonest ones who blatantly lie, or set out to defraud.

Either way, it has the capacity to surprise. :)

Geelong Differential Services built a 4WD Dyna and later a 6WD from it - think it ran a 350 Chev, T400, Land Cruiser transfer case and front end (tubed and laminated) and two 9" Ford rear diffs. That was in the mid-80s.

Yeah there are quite a few variants. My old truck was mated with a donor 45 series troopy. Did have a old H diesel and four speed, but finished up with a 2H and a five speed. Land cruiser axles, springs.

I'm really not a vendor here either anymore.

Just keep it going to do my bit to support AULRO.

I have a few bits to sell soon, but not a lot.

I'm surprised how good flea-bay has become for after market parts.

Last week SWMBO's car had a window regulator cable let go again. Only the third time on that same window - hooray for quality German engineering... :censored:

Stealer wants $220 for a replacement unit kit, but that includes a whole pile of things that I don't need to fix what is actually wrong.

A well known brand in the repairs game fixed price quoted SWMBO $800 for the fix. I opened the door up they had clearly not even bothered to do so, as all of the retaining bolts were still loctited in place. Buggered if I know how they came up with the quote, especially at that amount.

Ebay to the rescue - $15 for a replacement part. Even if the part isn't as good as OEM for that price I can afford to replace it a few times. Also for that price I almost bought some spares just to have lying around and save me shipping transit times... :)

Actually if there is at least an Aussie seller I tend to buy from them.

Then at least some of the funds stay here!

I can buy tools from a Sydney brick and mortar shop via their eBay site cheaper than from their shop.

And no Aussie co makes what I'm buying 99% of the time.

I just bought one. Bargain.
Hopefully better than my $100 one that i bought a couple of years ago which is useless.
Admittedly you have to have the laptop close but worth it if the image is usable. In any case $16 is not much to lose.

eBay is an absolute revolution for anyone in WA. It's far, far better than the old days where it either had to be ordered in or it wasn't available at all. Which is still often the case with shops here.

And in some cases can be bought cheaper on eBay than on their web shops too. I bought a little 2 man tent so that I can accompany my son on his trips with the cadets in the near future. Listed on the companies website for $120, eBay auction finished at an odd time of the day for $15.50.

It's fair quality, but will be fine for 95% of weather conditions I'll be using it in.
