After going through many thoughts of how is the best way to wire my new light bar. I came up with the idea " others may have already" of buying the old floor mounted style dip switch fitting it to the usual place on floor, and hard wiring via fuse to my auxiliary battery. This way I can dip it, if oncoming cars and use it independent of the other lights...can any one see any probs with this???. Gary

only that it doesnt sound completely legal...

From memory I recall that lights that are operable while the vehicle is in motion and face forwards that are not fog lights or similar are required to only be able to come on when used with high beam.

I know that applies to all bull bar mounted spot lights but cant remember the exact wording for rack mounted ones.

Probaly not legal if it means it can be on with low beam or even independently of your other lights!

Cheers, Mick.

as per Dave

aux lights have to go off when you dip to low beam, any other way is illegal.

I like the floor dippers too but,

When I learned to drive Dad made me dip before going around corners, so that in the case of an oncoming car I'd be stuffed because you could not dip the lights & use the clutch at the same time

same problem if you had your lightbar on a floor dipper and were changing gears , you'd be stuffed if you had to dip at the same time.
