Well I'm about to head up to the Cape for a month!! I thought I'd try and protect ole Vinnie by giving it a couple coats of clear plasti dip! Looks like a good product and just peels off when I'm done the trip!61987
This is the first coat, gives a matte finish!

That looks bloody brilliant.

I would be very keen to see how it holds up for the trip and the level of protection you get

Road Warrior works even better - you can still use the car and look out the windows!

I had something like that on my previous ride, but on cold mornings it looked like pva glue all over the car. It dries fairly quickly though, but when it got wet it was not as resilient as when it was dry for a few days. Just came off with a pressure cleaner.

My 2012 has got heaps of scratches.....but as its Fuji White you don't notice it much at all.

If it is the same as plasticoat don't leave it on for too long or it will be difficult to get off.

Not sure but checking you tube under dip your car, looks like a top product! I'd rather hard to get off then a professional cut and polish$$$

Did you need to buy a 3.78 ltr kit? Seems expensive at $350+

Did it give you enough for multiple coats? Need many to give decent protection.

Did 2 coats per side, probably one more can per side would have been better but this is better than nothing!

Well the plasti dip held up brilliantly!! Super impressed and no scratches. If I did it again I would apply another coat for ease of removal!

My fellow travellers with me wish they had done theirs!

Cheers

Yes I had the same opinion of the "Road Warrior" coating.
Others in our group wish they had it on too!

As for taking either off they do recommend that a minimum of two coats is applied.
A Gernie or Karcher makes removal easier. ;)

So my impression is that either is good, Plastidip is more expensive but you can leave it on indefinitely. It wont be affected by water either.
Road Warrior is cheap - $60 incl del will give you enough to do your car 2 coats twice.

Overall it's probably 1/4 the cost of plastidip.
Yes it will go milky when wet, and be more susceptible to peeling when wet but will again dry clear and textured when dry.
Road Warrior is great as a shorter term solution.
If you go bush very often then Plastidip is the way to go.

After this posting I researched Plastidip myself, looks like there are businesses that make a living out of doing whole cars. Being it fluoro colours or matt black as examples.

I'm impressed with the reviews, I'm going to spray my 19" road wheels Matt Black - for $120.

Peel it off when I'm bored with it back to standard.

This is the Road Warrior applied:

I ended up doing my wheels in Matt black, looked good until............I wash and cleaned the vehicle which was all good, then sprayed the tyres with some wet shine, plasti dip does not like this product, ended up removing all the plasti dip

Great idea ..................................... until you need to use a Gerni Gun to get it off. :wasntme:

Yes I did need to use the gerni to remove some of the areas where the application was to thin. The thicker areas peel right off. My wheels peeled off no problems as I got 4 coats on

No problems with using a gerni to get it off the car - I often wash my Disco with a gerni.

Comment above was referring to using a gerni to remove a "spray on condom". Not something I'd be keen on trying. :no2::no2:

It stings enough when I accidentally shoot myself in the foot with the water blast. :lol2:
