Well, I was chasing a small rattle (yeah I know, OCD) in the dash behind the instrument cluster in my '12 Puma. Couldn't find anything obvious so I thought I'd take the instrument cluster out and go for a drive to see if I could find it without that masking the sound.

Strangest thing, the car was very jerky (kangarooing so to speak) at slow speed, the throttle was responsive and there was no rev flare between gears and it had s--t loads of power right off the start, quite remarkable really. Maybe the cluster being disconnected alters the ecu.

Just thought I'd share that.........

No, I didn't find the bloody rattle either :twisted:

Edit: Forgot to add;

When I put the cluster back in obviously the tripmeter had reset, which I expected, but when I switched to start the engine I had a the words 'oil service' show up in the window where the odometer/tripmeter are for about 3 seconds and then go to the normal odo/trip screen. It only did this for about 3 or 4 on/offs then disappeared.

Can't add too much but I get the "Oil Service" indication up too. After I had my MY12 D90 serviced and I was about 30 minutes into my 4 1/2 hour drive home, the dealer rang me to say the Technician had come into the office thinking he hadn't done the service reset. They said they'd fix it at the next service, so if you can put up with it to the next service it'll get sorted out then.

That's weird, it's not showing now. Only the initial couple of ignition on cycles. I even just went down and checked again, going directly to odo/trip.

I know other vehicles show when service intervals are due, but our deefers don't.......... do they :eek:. Plus mine is at 16000 odd kms.

Bloody hell I thought I had it bad at 3 hours travel each way for service.

I told ya, I told ya,I told ya, I told ya,I told ya, I told ya,I told ya, I told ya to give up this ocd business! I mean I told ya a millions times! (not to exaggerate)
Everytime I'm seriously thinking about upgrading the old 300Tdi, I read one of these threads full of "electronic gremlins" and then think I'm lucky to not have the spare cash to justify "upgrading". :) Hope ya get it sorted
