Hi All

I am probably going to be driving from Tanunda to Adelaide domestic to pick up a mate who is going to co-road trip back to Perth with me. He'll be in on an early flight on a weekday morning.

The Tom Tom will guide me there i daresay but the question I have is, do I need to make allowances for peak hour traffic? Does the highway from Tanunda to the airport get bad? What sort of time should I allow for, given around 7-8am?

Thanks in advance

J

As a Barossa resident we find the best way to get to Adelaide airport at these times is via Northern expressway then Port Adelaide Expressway thru Port Adelaide to Tapleys Hill Road then Sir Donald Bradman drive to airport.
This misses the delays at the South road roadworks. You should allow at least 1.5 hours

Adelaide peak hour can be pretty bad. I found Melbourne's much worse when I was living there, but everything about Melbourne is worse. Darker, dirtier, busier and nastier.

Adelaide peak hour is just bad enough to make you remember what you aren't missing.

You Adelaidians need to get out more :tease:

I had to put up with Kalgoorlie peak 30 seconds last week. Don't know how I handled it. :p

Back to real Melbourne traffic now.

I was stuck in a traffic jam on the freeway near ADELAIDE. Nothing is moving.

Suddenly a man knocked on window.

I rolled down my window and asks, "What's happening?"

"Terrorists have kidnapped Julia GILLARD, Tony ABBOTT and Clive PALMER. They are asking for a $10 million ransom. Otherwise they are going to douse them with petrol and set them on fire. We are going from car to car, taking up a collection."

I asked, "How much is everyone giving, you know, on average?"

"About a litre or two.!"

Back to real Melbourne traffic now.

Usually lasts a little longer than 30 seconds .................. if you're on the road at the wrong time, can be up to at least 5 minutes some days. :p

Watch out for my son! :burnrubber:

Wednesday morning, he's driving a blue Camry from the Spirit of Tasmania, to Adelaide.

Apart from sticking to driving on the road, which is the best way to get to the Adelaide Golf Club ?

What are the differences in road rules he should watch out for and is there a difference with the open road speed limits compared with 110 Kph in Tasmania?

Victoria is 100km/h and highly policed with low tolerance.

SA is 110 in most highway areas.

Towns often have a speed trap at the entrance..

Just follow the highway into Adelaide.
Left onto Cross Roads at bottom of freeway.

Follow all the way down cross road to Anzac highway. Left onto Anzac hwy
Drive to the "end" and turn right into Tapleys hill road...

Keep on "Taps" for about 10km and its on the left.
