Seriously though, those numbers don't look good for Android! Yikes! If it continues at that rate, they will lose customers because of it...

75% market share mean you are going to be higher on the list of OSs reporting problems.
Most infections are the autosubscribe to premium SMS scams, in the old USSR and similar regions.
If you are worried install anti malware, only get software from the play store, and ignore unsolicited texts. Much like a PC really...

It's a shame really. I want to go Android because it's much more open than Apple iOS. But the trade off is the risk of Malware. And I don't want that on a device from which I do mobile banking/ebay/paypal/amazon transactions.
Looks like I'll be staying with iOS. At least on my phone.
