Yeeeeeeehah! ...5 lovely new shiny BB6 rims arrived today in the post. Thank you very much Performance Wheels.

Seams almost a shame to put some new bigger MUDs on these excellent black shiny new rims just to get them dirty spanking some of those old leaky Defenders. .... ... :p:p:p:p: ...;)

Yeah they look great! What offset did you get? Is it the same as the LR 17" wheels? Do they use the original nuts? How much?

I asked for the replacement rims to have the same off set as the original rims they are replacing, which had the maximum legal off set increase for NSW.

I will measure them tomorrow to see what they sent.

These are the new BB6 casting that uses the OEM LR nuts which is a good thing. How much? I don't know as Performance Wheels provided these as replacements because one of my earlier model BB6's cracked.

Again thank you Performance Wheels for standing by your Australian made wheels.

I've put 17" BB6 on my D3 recently too, with Toyo Open Country ATs. I think they look fine. They certainly roll well on the Tarmac. I disposed of the OEM 18" rims. I simply don't have the space to store a spare set of wheels, and I wanted the 17" so that I get more bag out if the deflated ATs as a compensation for not being able to store MTs. Trying to organise the first opportunity to deflate them and try out the theory.

Just measured the off set on the new BB6 rims and it is 43 mm, give or take a millimetre, standard is 53 mm so they provide 10 mm per side wider track, which I'm more than happy with. ...:)

I should have mentioned, when comparing the earlier BB6 rims alongside the new ones I noticed the new ones have much stronger looking spokes with reinforcing where they used to crack just above the hub.

I should have mentioned, when comparing the earlier BB6 rims alongside the new ones I noticed the new ones have much stronger looking spokes with reinforcing where they used to crack just above the hub.

The wider spokes were on the second version too ( mine cracked) , only the first version had the narrow spokes so the new ones have both the wider spokes and take the LR nuts.

Terry, what size tyres are you looking at fitting ? I was looking at the King rims with MTZ 285/70/17 for my D3 but am not sure if they will rub or I need rods/LLAMS for clearance.
I am still hanging onto the OEM 18's with Cooper AT3 for general use.

Hi Barney,

I now have a set of 265/70/17" KM2's fitted.

Yes at the very least you will need either LLAMs or GOE rods for that size tyre, personally I would be measuring the actual tyre diameter of the 285/70/17 MTZ's before buying them to make sure they will fit.

I checked out 285/70 KM2's for my D3 but chickened out in the end because it would have been very close. Given each tyre brands actual size is usually different the only way to know is to measure each brands size tyre.
