Wuring noise from Rear!!!

Hi All,

Just posted under "Newby" thread but thought I would start a new one as need some feedback.
Having picked up my new 2005 D3 V8 yesterday, decided to give her a good internal clean today and then when starting for first time after the clean a constant wuring sound came from the back end of the car and the dash display shows the car icon with an arrow giving direction of suspension travel for along time. But no warnings? If suspension is changed ie standard to access, the wuring sound stops as it moves but starts again once suspension travel stops. This is repeated no mater what position is set?? Any ideas??? Bit gutted really as car travelled up from NSW gloriously......... too good to be true I guess??? Bugger!! Gonna call MR Automotive tomorrow but any guesses would be good. Hopefully covered under statutory warranty???:(:(:(

Do a hard reset - stop car/engine with handbrake on and wait until the handbrake light goes off - take off the positive and negative cables off the battery. Clear of the battery touch the two cables to discharge ant stray voltages.

Then reconnect the cables to the battery and see if the issue continues. If so then further investigation is required.

This process is the equivalent of a reboot of a computer and does the same to the systems in the car. If just a computer clitch, this process should fix.

Will disconnection of the battery mean a code will need to be out into the audio system to run it afterwards??

Had my battery disconnected many times; never had to put a code in for the stereo :cool:

Ok So I just went outside and took a look under the car. I removed the bottom cover and started the car. The compressor ran as expected for a short while. I suppose its a case of "How loud should it be". Without the bottom cover its pretty loud. Bracket was firm and compressor runs fairly hot but not 100'C so all good. At the end of the day its a compressor, a very small one but still a compressor and all compressors I have come across in my working life are loud, very loud!!! I replaced the bottom cover after cleaning all the crap out and refitted with the three bolts. The bottom centre bolt went in further than it was before removal which lifted the covers (once snapped together) further up towards the compressor rubber foot mount. This I think gave clearance around the whole compressor and when it ran it was just audible from inside the car. I assume that is about right. So the next question is "How much does it run if the vehicle is left at standard height"? Once the compressor turned off i sat in the running stationary car for a further 10 mins or so (adjusting nothing) and the compressor started again but only for a short while. Is this normal or is it possible I have a very small leak??

The compressor should be quiet enough to be unnoticeable, and I would think, should not start without activity to prompt it.
With my diesel running, you would not even know there was a compressor in the vehicle.

If you have a leak I would expect the vehicle to sag overnight, and the compressor to fire up the moment you start up. It will try to level itself as soon as it can.
