Don't know enough about that type of thing Garry, but you hear about it to often. I guess the next thing would be that I need to send XX amount

If every text message I got saying that I'd won a **** load of cash I'd be the richest person in the world. Yes it's a scam! I mean, did anyone that got that message actually buy a lotto ticket in the uk!? Lol!

The sad thing is that people actually try to claim it believing its true and they lose everything.

:D

Yep, my daughter tells me that every day, ....

Your clothes choice is special
Your haircut is special
The list seems long, and the sarcasm just drips from her voice.

Payback is always good when I see her with her friends and I always manage to wander over and say hello. :D:D:D

Quite the norm in Holland... called an "Acceptgiro"
Acceptgiro - Dutch Payment Association (http://www.betaalvereniging.nl/en/giro-based-and-online-payments/acceptgiro/)

I also won all those English Pounds, but the message had very Asian terminology to the S.M.S. making it very obvious that it probably originated far from the U.K. Simple delete.

But not with our banks - customer Id number and passwords needed.

If you had the time you could have a bit of fun with them.......
For scam baiting tips I would suggest looking at

Turning the scams against the scammers can be interesting and take some of the boredom out of your day.
For some good reading (and some funny pictures) have a look at "the trophy room" and "hall of shame".

Just make sure that you don't do anything illegal yourself whilst "playing" with them.

Don't bet on it and don't trust it.

These things are not hard to get anyway. A lot of scammers send out bulk emails and some people think they are smart by "playing along" with the game because they know they are scammers and want to prove that they are smarter etc... By replying to emails of this nature, a scammer knows your email address is actual. They then spend time trying to hack your password, and what do you know, they all of a sudden have more info because banks correspond via email aswell. Has your customer ID ever been emailed to you? Password are often "your mothers maiden name" etc. Have you ever recieved an email from your mum? stuffs not hard to find out if you have the means.

Also, the Acceptgiro is being replaced by the IBAN-Acceptgiro... (IBAN stands for International Bank Account Number... every bank has one) this is because of the lack of birders in Europe and the increase in Dutchies using foreign banks etc.

Exactly - they need your password etc - giving them the BSB and Account number means nothing.

Up to you. But by responding to an email, it gives them more info to use...

I do not respond to any scam E-Mail at all. As a matter of fact if I don't recognise any E-Mailers address, I just hit the delete button. Overcautious I guess.

Like many of you I also had a phone call telling me that I had been picked to have won , a lot of money, by an Indian lady .I told her that was wonderfull as because normaly I can't win a choock raffle , plus I didn't remember entering any comps. She did tell me I had been selected and that the winnings would be put in my Bank if I gave her my details , to witch my reply was SEND ME A CHEQUE , that's when she hung up !!..:D:D
