Hi all,

I was in at MLR (Melbourne) yesterday getting my wife's D4 serviced and noticed a brochure on the desk (sorry if this is old news - I have only just seen it).

Land Rover are now selling an official Land Rover bull bar for the Defender. It is Australian made (here in Melbourne) and from what they advised, it is only for the Australian market.

- It is available in either silver or black powdercoat
- It is winch compatible
- Retail pricing (which includes fitting) is $2200

Also available (again for the Aussie market only) are the following (from the same company):

- Side steps (for both 90 and 110)
- Roof rack (for both 90 and 110)
- Rear ladder

Again in either silver of black powdercoat. Sorry - but I forgot to ask for their prices ....... (was a bit excited with the bull bar).

The reason for my excitment was they advised that the bar WILL fit the SVX/LE models (as I have a 2013 LE 110). The service person called the company to confirm this whilst I was there.

Regarding the price, they advised that were happy to be a bit more accomodating than retail. Also if happy to provide a lower price if I install myself (which I would).

Anyhow, here is a scanned copy of the brochure (I hope I'm not breaking any forum rules re copyright etc). If so, mods please remove and let me know.

cheers,

Wayne

Wow that is cause for excitement. While we're a long way off getting a bar, I've been struggling to find any options for our LE 90 other than custom job or the xrox.

If you go for it keep us posted.

The Defender Bar was due to come out over 4 years ago... Just in time for when they stop making the current shape then.

Many new Defenders sold have a bull bar fitted, this usually is from ARB/TJM, Land Rover dealers have turned a blind eye to this, and allowed the fittment of these, I think Land Rover are wanting more control, and having there own bar, will be better in there MINDS for any warranty issues, buy a genuine bar, or fit your own and have issues with warranty.

The price is double the ARB one...

RRP not fitted $1850

And the rack well, it looks like one of those old fashioned Series racks, that Brownchurch still make, Ugly as, plus who designed with a fixed top rail..

Need to get the saw out and hack it about if you want to fit a roof rack etc.

RRP 110 Roof Rack $2821

RRP Ladder 90/110 $329

RRP 90 Roof Rack $2630

RRP 110 Side Steps $1070

RRP 90 Side Steps $985

Excluding Fitting..

These side steps are very like our own range of side steps, Ours are $200 cheaper.

This range of accessories I have been told is very limited, as they are starting to lower Defender stocks, with the planned new one due later next year.

We recently ordered a "90", & whilst I have a copy of that single sheet brochure, those items were not mentioned to us.....the side steps we have optioned are the ones shown in the '13 Defender full brochure......which our salesperson said, were the only ones available?
Cheers, Pickles.

Your sales man may have not been given the information, its not been out long, or just hates Defender buyers.

Those steps in the 2013 brochure have been around for a while, they are however just a step, and fit to the side sills not the chassis out riggers, more in keeping with the city slicker Defender look.

Hi, I was looking at one of these new bullbars on a new TDCi 110 Defender (standard) on Monday, I thought that they looked pretty good as well as (as you point out) being winch compatible!
I had been looking for a standard fit bull/winch bar for my TDCi 90 LE for the past three months, finally I've found one.
If/when you fit one, please post some pics up as I'd love to see what it looks like on an LE version.
I have to save up a bit before I can buy one myself.
Thanks,
Mike

N.B.
I saw the new bullbar at the landrover dealership at Artarmon (Alto).
Every other dealership/parts place that I have been to has said that they can supply a bullbar and fit it, until I point out the issues with the different lights/grill on the LE.
I paid for a bullbar for my TDCi 90 LE that a dealership said that they could fit (even to a LE they said), left the vehicle with them for a few days and then got a phone call from them saying that for some reason my lights were different from standard and that they could not fit it!
They didn't want to refund me the money already paid, but eventually did so.

I really like that new Bullbar

I reckon it shows off those iconic Land Rover lines much better than other offerings on the market. I wonder if they could get one up to the Territory?

Now I just need to unload my 2012 ARB bar on some unwary punter....:(

Anyone care to explain how it will work with an SVX ;)

That bar is right in the way...

That bar is the same design as the one 15 years ago, and the roof rack exactly like those offered on the 2001 Tombraider edition.

That bull bar came out in 1998... lol

Was originally for the Td5's.

Might have to look into this one.

Wish they came in Firenze Red!

Thanks for the post

That was my thinking - whilst it looks like it will clear the light surrounds, that cross bar looks like it will block the driving light on the SVX/LE. Hence why I asked them to confirm if it will fit.

If I decide to go ahead, it will be on condition that it does not block the driving light.

Still undecided.

It does look exactly like the factory bar on my old 2003 TD5 !

They mentioned that they are built in Spotswood (Melbourne). So not sure if its the same manufacturer that built the old ones.

I'm gonna ask a stupid question... whats an LE ?
Limited Edition? Luxury Edition? Laughable (marketing) Exercise ?
How does it differ from the 'normal' one?

"New"? For crying out loud its the same as fitted by the smash repairers to my TDi after the altercation with a bull back in '06 ;) It is a TD5 bar, and it has Land Rover logo stamped on it too. Not that you can see it under all those bugs , mud and guts! :D

I bought that roof rack not having really looked at what was on the market, but I only paid $1300 for it and not thehefty asking price stated there. I'll admit I hated it at first once I saw all the other cool looking ones from other companies but now I wouldnt swap it for the world. Very functional, for me and what I use it for anyway.

AS for the bull bar, I prefer the smaller tubular ones anyway, as I think all the bigger ones give the defender a nerdy look to it. :wasntme:

Cheers.
