whilst waiting for the bank account to slowly increase so I can get a new donk I and slowly rebuilding my trusty machine (note rebuilding, NOT restoring). I have taken just about everything off, sanded and painted it ready to go back on. The hard top has what looked like some sort of roof lining in it, whether it was genuine or not I don't know. as I have only ever driven rag tops or utes I don't know what went into hard tops. this then begs two questions -:

1/ did hard tops have some sort of roof lining in them originally?

2/ what would be an acceptable form of roof lining whether or not they did, should I choose to put one in.?

cheers

Pics?

I've made a few but requires a few other fitments to make it all work.

I know my series 3 swb has lining but not in the back, I think station wagons had lining too but I am not sure about the series 2 and series 2a

Deluxe trim included headlining. Standard on station wagons, it was optional on other models, but I have never seen it on 2as except on station wagons.

I removed the headlining on my S3 and put in some 6 mm sticky backed rubber to absorb some of the minimal noise from the cab of a S3 SWB diesel .
Then I spray glued a new lining to the rubber. It looked a treat when finished.
