96 Disco 3.9ltr V8. Steering Column Wiring. Ignition feed & head light feed

Hello all,

Nice to meet you all. I'm new to the site so I apologize in advance if this topic is covered somewhere in the forum (I couldn't find it).
I am installing some digital gauges which require and ignition power feed (turning the gauges on / off) and a headlight feed (dims / brightens the digital display). I am having trouble identifying the correct wires to get a feed from so any help would be greatly appreciated. I have listed the harness wiring colors below.

The head light stork has a harness connector has 10 wires which are:
- Light Green / Brown
- Dark Green / White
- Dark Green / Red
- Dark Green / Brown
- Purple / Brown
- Blue
- Blue / Black
- Red
- Purple / Orange
- Blue / White

The ignition barrel harness has 5 wires which are:
- White
- Brown
- White / Red
- Yellow
- Green / White

I gather you are doing wiring without a functional multimeter or test light to hand? An optimist!:p
FYI either the yellow or white ignition wires should suffice, and I suspect one of the dark green + stripe wires will be parking lights live.

White wire for ignition feed
Red wire for "parks" head lights.
