Agreed Bob, a great loss for us all. It would really be worth those who haven't looked into his life and achievements, to do so now.

it is a pity that he is more remembered for singing than for his achievements before he achieved singing fame.

A job well done
That seems to be the way things are. While his music was important, his other achievements were really more valuable.
I heard Dr Roger Bannister say in a radio interview a few years ago that he would prefer to be remembered for his work as a brain surgeon that for being the first man to run a mile in less than 4 minutes. It's not going to happen though, is it.
