I've managed to naff my heater fan when attempting to re-assemble it after a clean. One of the self aligning bearings came out of its holder on dis-assembly and when attempting to return it to its home I've naffed the tabs that hold the bearing in place.

Does anyone know of any fans that can be modified to fit? I don't imagine it should be too hard to adapt one just need to find one with similar dimensions. I've read that defender motors can be adapted but not the cheapest.

Failing that I am going to attempt to get a mate to machine an adapter so I can slip in an self aligning bearing (SKF 108 TN9 / NSK 108) if I can get one at a reasonable cost. Just need to gut the existing housing and then space out with the appropriate number of washers and should be good???

For those machinery experts / mech enges out there how do you think it would go with a standard ball bearing in one end as opposed to a self aligning type? I don't imagine the loads are to great and standard sealed 8mm ID ball bearings are only around $10.

Thanks cooee. Don't suppose you remember what model nissan do you? Patrol ones seem to be available at a reasonable cost but can't seem to find the shaft diameter to check if it will work with the 101 fan. Otherwise it looks like it could adapt okay.
