Help. Last night driving country my highbeam suddenly would not switch on and I would go into darkness. Not good at 110k's. Then if I flick back to low beam it was ok. Having to drive 300ks without highbeam was not fun! I have now realised that if I pull the stalk without clicking, it will go into high, but not once it's clicked?? I have a feeling to might be the stalk?? is this common?? I have also looked on my RAVE and Haynes and found nothing in there on how to replace the indicator high beam stalk?? How hard is it to do?? Do you have to remove the steering wheel?? Does anyone have instructions hidden somewhere?
Thanks Dave

Melted head lamp switch. You have either put in more powerful globes in or age has caught up with the switch. Relays should be retrofitted to ALL head lamp circuits or you will melt a replacement switch. Take off the column shroud and the switch should be easy to change.
STC4017 Land Rover Discovery 1 Lucas Indicator Side Head Light Switch 1994 ON | eBay (http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/STC4017-Land-Rover-Discovery-1-LUCAS-Indicator-Side-Head-Light-Switch-1994-on-/290898738716?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&fits=Model%3ADiscovery&hash=item43baea7e1c)
Pulling the switch all the way up engages the "flash lights" contacts, separate from the hi/lo contacts and supplied by another fuse.
