There is another way...

I brought a HEMA HNI6 its a far better GPS than the Land Rover unit and it has free map updates.

Definitely second that, only use the Hema.

How much detail does the Hema provide? Using the iPad version of their software whilst having a drive around Watagan today, found there was really insufficient detail, only the major tracks; surprisingly the D4 map had more tracks than the Hema map, although NSW 1:25K topo had much more again.

Your right these seem to be the bee knees off road maps
I am just trying to bring my unit up to date with new road changes

Looks like LR have all us pre 2013 owners stitched up - update is only available from them:

I have rarely used the Land Rover GPS for guidance. We have used to locate camp sites using the co-ordinates from the Camps 6 guide but now the HEMA has all the Camps 6 sites as well.

I refuse to pay what Land Rover want for their maps. If Garmin & HEMA can provide free map updates on a $200 - $600 GPS Unit then Land Rover could do the same for their very expensive option.

LR aren't alone in this regard. It's common amongst quite a few makes - and they all know how to get into you for the cost of updates.

It's why I never even opted for the LR GPS in mine. Just went straight for the Hema. ;)
