So I had major issues with getting Koni shocks from overseas. Its a long story that I will go into later.
In short I've gone to Sydney wholesale suspension and they have been very helpful and gotten some in for me.
My car is a Defender 90 2003.
The only thing I'm concerned about is they are telling me that for the rears they had to get in koni 8240-1190spx as Koni Australia don't bring in the koni 8240-1182spx.
When I look at the worldwide shock selector page it says that the model he is getting me (koni 8240-1190spx) is for a 110 up to 1999.
The two issues are my car is a 2003
And it's a 90.

Does anyone know if they will fit and if so what differences they will have.

He is saying you can put slightly lifted springs on them or keep them standard.
I would only ever do this sometime in the future if the fronts could also be raised.
My current thinking is to keep the height standard and just make the ride a lot better.
It may require a lighter duty new set of rear springs..

I wouldnt worry too much about the year, the basic design has not changed to stop you fitting these in.
The worrying one would be that they are 110 shockers. Obviously they would be stiffer, and assuming you are getting raid HTs, will just make your adjustable range smaller.

The ride will be much better though, I fitted them to my 130 and love them.

2 things.

If your getting the 90 series shox then I hope you have good health insurance with Cairo! They will be VERY stiff and eat the rubber bushes quickly. The 82's are a much better bet.

Also, you can't put anything other than std springs in with the 90 series... They are too short in full extension. Don't ask how I know!

I'm definitely not getting RAID 90 series. Sorry if the post is a little confusing but the only thing that has the number 90 in it is the model of the defender. I'm getting the 82 series.

It was just the model of the rear springs that had me worried as they are listed for an older model 110.
But If they fit ok and the ride isn't too harsh I'm ok with that.

I've been looking at maybe changing the rear springs to std king springs which would be a little softer ride than original heavy duty springs.

As far as dampers go, the defender design remains the same across all 90's & 110's - the dampers will fit.

To my knowledge no-one differentiates between 90's & 110's in regards to damper performance either.

In short, all's good!

Thanks John,

From what he's told me the 110 version of the rear dampers just have a little more extension. He reckons its not enough for the spring to dislocate but il check that out when I put them on.
Ill take measurements of all shocks at full extension.
I remember people saying that the Konis do extend a touch more than is measured due to internal rubber bum stops. I'm assuming most new shocks are the same but older ones may have slightly compressed bum stops giving maybe an extra 5-10mm.
