This is my first thread, I have a series 1 86" Land Rover which I am presently restoring. Have yet not been able to find serial number to confirm year as firewall plate is missing and have not located numbers on chassis. Was sold by A & T of Brisbane as this plate is still present. I also have a 1960 series 2 in need of a rebuilt and a Discovery 3 as daily driver.

Welcome .. Depending on state the chassis number ( use instead of firewall plate) is on the front pasanger side chassis rail ( ontop and infront of the bumper bar ) or rear of chassis behind the offside rear wheel) and sometimes on the front crossmember ... Engine number should be on the block on Lhs in front of exhaust manifold .
So now the fun begins ? Lol
Put up some pics soon ok?
Ps if you measure the distance between the front guard brace bolt and the rear edge of the wheel arch that'll tell you if it's an 86 inch . Haven't got the figure. Stored in my brain but ill pop it up later
CalVin ( google it) will give you chassis details and / or pop eng and chassis up here and someone will find out 4 you

I also have an Annand & Thompson vehicle apparently all their records were lost in The 1974 flood . I believe the chassis number is also stamped on the right hand side front spring shackle bracket. The engine number is as per the picture uploaded . Post us some pictures of your vehicle. once you find the chassis number and engine number there are records in the workshop manual which can identify year etc.

If you measure the distance between the wheel centres, front to back, it will either be 86" or 88" ;)
