Hi Folks,
I have noticed a few reasonably large oil spots (bigger than a 50c coin), on my garage floor under the D4. Seems to be somewhere between the middle and the passenger side but I don't park in exactly the same spot so its hard to tell.
It's done 24,000. I had a dealer oil change at 14000 and plan on having it done again at around 29,000. Perhaps its an oil filter that is not quite tight?
Its going in on Wednesday to have the radio changed over due to an iPod issue so I will get them to look at it but i am curious, has anyone else had issues with oil leaks?

My oil pressure switch did leak oil, its on the right hand side of engine and was leaking around the middle. Can't remember but I think with a good torch you can see the switch from the right hand front wheel arch when the steering is hard left. It was replaced under warranty! Sump had to come off.

Hi lpj,
If it is to do with the oil filter leaking, might be caused by an over ambitious mechanic unscrewing the oil filter to quickly and allowing the oil to overflow into the V, if the oil leak is post oil change it takes a fair amount of oil to fill the V between the banks before it overflows.
I had a similar issue on my D3 that was caused by some oil overflowing into the V I suspect during an oil change and then at some point afterwards the water outlet housing started leaking, seeing oil floats on water the oil was the first tell tale sign that the outlet housing was leaking water, I didn't get much of a coolant smell because the water was covered by the thin oil film.
I took the engine cover off and stuck the end of 2 m of clear plastic tubing into the V and sucked the open end, I got over a litre of coolant out of the V before I struck oil.
Replaced the water outlet housing, washed out the V with degreaser and then monitored for further leakage. Just an idea.

My D4 has had leaks caused by a loose welsh plug, some of the turbo pipes being loose/faulty and the secondary turbo itself.

All RHS front though, inwards and rear to the front RH wheel.

hope i get this right. haven't posted before now....
check the colour of the oil - hopefully a little darker and not like honey if it's old engine oil and this will point to a spill which i think would be unlikely and very tardy.
I had a front diff seal go on my D3 left side. I knew of the problem, but wasn't worried - had it topped up. LR service identified the problem without me pointing them to it. rather than repair, they replaced the diff - all good. the good news for you is whatever it is, should be covered by warranty.
