Original 2003 Defender 90 shock specs vs Koni Heavy Track

Don't know if this has been posted before but thought it might be handy for anyone upgrading to Koni shocks.
These measurements are a bit rough but I'd say they'd be within 5mm.
From mounting point to mounting point.

Front original landrover shocks
370 compressed
590 extended

Front Koni 8240-1181SPX shocks
375 compressed
590 extended

Rear original landrover shocks
360 compressed
555 extended

Rear Koni 8240-1190SPX shocks
375 compressed
585 extended

Apparently there is still a bum stop in the Konis which gives it a little more travel than measured.
The bum stop in the originals could be a little compressed already.

So far the ride is a fair bit better but more testing to come.

I think a 'bum stop' is, well, umm, err, I'm not sure.... :angel:

Usually the Koni bump stop is merely a rubber bumper inside the stone guard, between the top of the stone guard and the body, this is why your compressed figure is s touch longer with the Koni's.
It needs to be removed before they dampers can be adjusted.

FWIW, 90 Series Raids use a hydraulic rebound bump stop, ie. it works at full extension, your 8240's just use the small rubber one for compression.

Hahaha yeah I'm not really sure what a bum stop is. I think it's a term used by married ladies to their husband at bed time.

The 82 series didn't need these to be removed to adjust them. Just compress fully and turn slightly until the the locator aligns itself then turn clockwise or anti clockwise to adjust.

The bump rubber needs to be removed before you can adjust them ;)

I know my way a little around twin tube Koni's ;)
