I want to go camping within 30 mins of the gold coast next week.
I need somewhere where i can have a fire even if it is in a fire pit but still has showers and toilets and any other things from there are bonus.
any suggestions would be great :)

You can try Rummery Park or Birrel Creek....both are a bit further than 1/2 hour from GC but not too far. The other option would be down Wooyung. Probably about 45 mins from the GC. You'd have to stay at the C'van Park ( :( ) but they do allow fires as far as I know.

Cheers

Lamington National Park is always nice. Lamington National Park (Department of National Parks, Recreation, Sport and Racing) (http://www.nprsr.qld.gov.au/parks/lamington/index.html)

What part of the gold coast do you want to be half an hour from?

Australia Zoo is 2-3 hours drive north of the Goldie, it's up at the Sunny.

Flanagan Reserve near Beaudesert allows fires and has amenities, but its further than 30 mins. from the GC, although there is a back route to the coast. Also convenient to run up to Australia Zoo on the north side.

You Could Try - again a bit further than 1/2 hr - possibly up to an hour but Big Riggen just out of Rathdowney is good, has hot showers & toilets , creek, basic shop amenities and allows fires - bush camping in quiet surrounds, with some creature comforts...

a great spot

There is an over night spot at Stotts Island with toilets, but no showers. It is free of charge, and less than 15 minutes from Tweed Heads.

Up in border Ranges National Park is a couple of camping spots with pit toilets and no showers-- park enter is charged. One is called Sheep station Creek, and is popular during school holidays-- and there is a charge. It would be an hour and a half from the Gold Coast-- access it from Lions Road, north of Kyogle.

Or for another spot with a Fire place, Pit toilets and no showers, do turn off the Kyogle-Murwillimbah Road at Williams Road at Lillian Rock, one hour from Coolangatta, and it is then 9 kilometers to the entrance to the Border Ranges National Park, and a few more kilometers to a walk to some Antarctic Beach Trees that are 2000 years old. People do camp there, but there may be a "NO Camping" Sign. If you do go there do go a couple of more kilometers to the lookout, where you will see one of the best views in Australia.

Below the lookout, about one hour from Tweed Heads/Coolangatta on the Gold Coast is a camping area in Mebbim National Park. It was free when it was State Forest, but do not know if it still is Free. Again toilets and Fire place, but no Shower. You do access this one of three ways. Turn off the Kyogle to Murwillimbah Road at either "Twin Bridges" where you do ignore the no through road sign and follow that road to the Camping spot [last time we passed through there we went back that way], or turn off at Byril Creek Road, and follow the signs to the National Park, or go through Tyalgum. It will be about 50 minutes by the shortest route from the southern Gold Coast.

on the turn off to Mount Warning, off the Kyogle Road out of Murwillimbah is a caravan Park, 30-40 minutes from Tweed Heads on the Gold Coast. Been past to a friends property-- where we bought a Range Rover with a free old Excavator thrown in, but do not know any thing about it. Will PM you with something that may interest you near by.

If you visit the Gold Coast from where you camp most of the beaches do have free cold showers-- wear cozies.

At Mount Burrel mentioned in an above post you can get a shower for $3.00 according to the sign in the loo--new guy has just taken over and so he could change this. This may be useful if you stay in Mebbim National Park, etc.

Up north of Nimbin in the mountains, or on a couple of side Roads are a number of creek crossings where you can get water to boil for drinking or to wash in. No toilets-- take a spade and bury your dung & loo Paper, away from the creek bank.
