It would seem that someone wanted my Range Rovermore than me. But they did not get it, but did damage it. So it was towed awaytoday for repairs .No idea when I get it back. Damage was to driver’s door andinterior. Unfortunately I did not catch them; because; it would have been thelast day they spent on this planet. I had not used my vehicle for a week, so noidea when it happened. I have been away for a few days. The police don’t caresubmit a report. Talk to insurance. No attendance by police, yet possible finger printsetc I told them about areas they could get evidence, not interested talk toinsurance company. Where will this madness end? People can violate my life andnothing is done to try and find the people who did this to me. What messagedoes this give to you?

Makes you wonder. watching all the copper shows on tv, they show up all keen with their forensics dept, yet when my house got broken into, and all my spotlesslt clean, polished brass zippo lighters were found covered in finger prints, mine and my brothers mobile phones were stolen, both used to call the same number, we passed that onto coppers too, not interested. my knives stolen, then 5 days later, a stabbing on the news, and there's a girl wearing my other flatmates WA state hockey jersey with his name written on it. now interest again. in the end we were told to get over it. maybe we were from the wrong political/income demographic? hope you get your justice mate, I was robbed of any thanks to the fine officers from the WA police force.

Pretty much the same in Vic. It costs money to fight crime. As I stated in a thread I started about a speeding motor cyclist, it would be nice if they put as much resources into catching crims as they do motorists doing 5 k over the limit.

One costs money, one makes money. They are just doing what their masters (broke governments) tell them to do.

I took a short clip from our security system to the cops in Joondalup and even told them who the bloke was and where he lived....just over the road. He was constantly going out late at night and we got him on camera at least 3 times trying car doors but who cares apart from us?
This was about the same time as next door got broken into and they sent a cop round to ask questions but showed no interest in my possible evidence.
I'm not suggesting the cops might like sleeping on the job but Joondalup nick is the one where 2 yobs drove a ute right into the front doors one night and set it alight and no one on duty noticed!:o
Apparently it took a phone call from an interested observer to alert them.
AlanH.

PS. I'm a great supporter generally of coppers who do a job I couldn't and wouldn't do, but sometimes they don't seem to care too much about some types of crime.

To add some balance. I was broken into earlier this year, after ringing the Police I had forensics arrive in a timely manner. He spent plenty of time here, taking prints, photos and a couple of items for testing that were left behind.
He made it clear that I wouldn't hear from any one until DNA had been sampled and only if they found a match.
Several weeks later the Police called to notify me that they had gathered DNA which matched a person they knew.
The Police charged the offender and I was informed last week that he has received 18 months in gaol.
I have my views on the way Police do there work, particularly hiding just inside a speed limit decrease.
The Police in my case did a good job, along with being professional in there communication with me through out the 5 month period it took to from the break in to the prison sentence.

After reading through the first few posts, I felt compelled to share my experience. Had a rental property broken into a few years ago. The thieves broke in through the kitchen window in the middle of the night (while the occupants were asleep) and made out through the front door with mainly electronic equipment worth several thousand dollars. Reported it to police, they came, dusted the window for fingerprints and pulled a few good ones. Got a phonecall a couple of days later, they identified the perp and found all my belongings neatly laid out on a garage floor. The thieves were even nice enough to clean the speakers and dust the TV screens. All before I even reported it to insurance. I was impressed with the efficiency. This was in SA.

I air conditioned a very large two story house here on the gold coast a few years ago. The builder handed over the house on completion but the idiot owner didn't change it from the builders keys. That weekend, someone (with a builders key) got in and completely stripped the house bare. Took everything that was and wasn't nailed down, even to the point of taking everything out of the roof for the air cond but only leaving the outlets. They took the outdoor unit which was next to the switchboard but the twits didn't turn the power off before cutting through the mains power and copper tube where they came out the wall. Left a nice blow mark up the wall. The best part was, the entire interior of the house was white, walls, ceilings, carpet, balustrades on the stairs, tiles, the lot!. When I got asked to check what was left in the roof of the air cond, the Police were having a bloody field day with the black finger print powder, slapping it around everywhere like it was Christmas, trampling it into the carpet as they worked. I had a chat to one of the Police outside who informed me that the house was owned by a very well known criminal lawyer and it was payback time for getting some of the lowlife scum.:p off.

We had a Ford Escort pinched from outside our flat & the police kindly returned the number plates & filled out a crime report after a few days. We enquired a couple of weeks later to be told that stolen vehicles under $2.5k value weren't investigated.:p
That was in 1984 !!!

2 examples of different care levels. When I was 13-16 we lived 2 blocks from middle of Wollongong. 15 years old casual day at school, I'm walking from the bus stop to my house, about 600m or 3 blocks. 100m mark f100 pulls up cop runs over ,"can we search your bag" no problem it's full of school books, 400 m later outside vacant block 2 crummydores ,undercover, jump the gutter and 4 undercover cops jump out with guns drawn,1 shoved into my back pushed me up against the old retaining wall and searched my bag:eek:. Outside house door another marked cop car skids to a halt ,I just stand there holding my bag open as the cop runs over. Turnt out some moron had robbed the credit union across from the Wollongong HQ and tried to escape on foot with the same clothes and bag as me:o
2: three months later I get home from school ,front door corner window was punched in, I went inside to the kitchen got my fathers large slicing knife and called the cops. A few minutes later I hear bashing at the back door and a whacked out junkie was on the back steps who ran when he saw me , called the cops again, still never came! From their Hq driveway was 60 m ,left, 300m, right then 200m to our door:mad:

I think there are to many accountants and not enough workers in the police these days,

I had someone try to break into my garage at home a few years ago, I rung the police as they had damaged the locks and doors trying to get in, but they never came,

I stuck my German Shepard in the garage for a few weeks when I would go to work, the Lady next door told me later that some bloke got the shock of his life when he lifted the door and a dogs head popped out trying to kill him,

been 5 years now, haven't had anymore troubles touch wood

Was that the "273K man"?...I see all charges have been dropped against the guy they charged?
But yes, I have nothing against "the station guys"....they do what they're told I guess, what the regulations say etc.
And I know nothing about the internal operations of the Police Force, but I'd love to know the % of resources put into traffic, as compared with say 20 years ago. Yeah, 5ks over...and what about the cars that sit close to rail crossings for half an hour or so waiting to get some-one who's started to move just before the lights stopped flashing...3 points & what $250?!!....
And yet, we've been burgled once, & on another occasion, a cheque book was stolen from our mail box, $5K misappropriated (bank reimbursed me)...I filled out all reports etc incl. Police report....they said they'd be in touch.....but I heard nothing.
But "break traction" in ya car....& it's impounded???...
Cheers, Pickles.

We've had two break-ins since we moved to Kalgoorlie. First one was in the shed / workshop, and second one was the house.

The first one - our dog (German Shepherd) tore the back out of his leg. He never came back.

The second one was caught by a family member running up the back laneway. Won't describe what happened to him - but the gear he had pinched was recovered and he never came back either.

Never bothered reporting either incident to the local police - waste of time.

A little while back, we had "locals" running amok down the laneways, throwing rocks into back yards / onto roofs etc. I went for a little "drive" in the Disco looking for them. Was pulled up at the end of the laneway by the resident in the end house - turns out he's a local copper. He offered to come with me and "assist" if I found and caught up with the culprits. We ended up having quite a good chat - he was interested in my young bloke's car which he had heard / seen regularly coming up the laneway (it's a rather unusual imported sports job) and we have since got on well together. It's good knowing that there's a member of the local station living a few doors away. :D

Why do you all think such things ;)

The car thieves that took and wrote off my XE ESP 351, well lets just say one uses wheels to get around now and the other *may* have had his pride and joy "altered" to a less than functional condition.

That car (my ESP) would have now be worth over $85k

I'm more sedate now ;) :)

there was a story on a different car forum 4 years ago.

the guy got a sms from his girlfriend saying the front door has been smashed in and shes waiting for the police to arrive.

the guy drives home, gets pulled over, defected andand 30min later gets home to find his gf crying out the front. the police hadnt arrived yet.

like every organisation, there are good workers and bad workers. the bad workers dont get promoted and stay in general patrol duties. the public see/interact with general patrol duties officers the most. this leads to a bad image.

and again, like every organisation, there are good and bad policies. unless the courts are involved, a member of the public interacting with the police is a one way street. bad policies affect the public as they have no reproach.

combine bad policy with a bad officer and it can give you a very bad day.
