Haven't been able to find an answer to this when searching....

Interested in how much rear suspension travel an early Defender (eg 90's) has out of the factory? Total travel and the compression/extension split at normal ride height.

I measured my County on the weekend and its got around 200mm total, with just over half in compression. Its got ~40mm lift and longer shocks etc so I've got no idea what they are standard.

I'm happy with my current setup but just curious as to what they are standard.

Steve, I have one of the rear springs out of my rangie at the moment as I was looking at this and wheel offset as well, can take some measurements if you want. At the moment its sitting on the bumpstop:)

Thanks Damien, that would be good (assuming its just standard shocks fitted). Just total travel is probably all I need. Should be able to find bumpstop height somewhere.

Steve,
Wouldn't the shocker travel be the max?? I know that its what bottoms out, never seen if it fully compresses.

I pulled the shock out, can fit a stock one and measure it? Will try later tonight

Steve, this is what I have found

I removed my shock which had an open length of 650, closed of 390
Installed a shock that was 565 open, 355 closed. (Stock??)

Measured the spring between spring seats (actual seat where the spring sits)
Open 397
Closed 177 (sitting on bump stop)

This help?

Those shocks are 10mm longer than stock, Close enough

Cheers Damien - close enough for what I'm after.
220 from bump stop to fully extended - exactly the same range as mine.
