Just changed a fuel filter on a 2010 Freelander. Filter is on the R/H side (from the drivers seat) close to the radiator, it has 4 pipes running to it. The hex plastic nut on the left hand side opens the drain hole at the bottom of the filter (water drain I guess). We filled the filter after fitting by using a brake bleeding vac tool hooked up to the main connector running to the motor at the filter (looking at the filter from the front of the vehicle, r/h side closest to you). Once plenty of fuel is at this point, a few cranks of the motor should fire thing up. Hope this helps.
