Hi, I know that you can still get a brand new defender, that sort of looks like the older Land Rovers, but I am wondering if it's still possible anywhere in the world to get a brand new Land Rover that has the original style door handles like the one pictured below, I am fairly sure I have seen them on military ones, but not civilian ones. Also is it possible to fit the doors with the old style handles to new Land Rovers?
Cheers, Gab

Hi Gab , you can fit County doors to a Defender I think you will also have to change the striker plate as well , the very. early County's had sliding windows . The series models had differant hinges , they also could be split , so that the door top could be taken off . I think some of the Army 110s were like that . :) jimr1.

Series 3's have the same hinges as a defender. I would think that the door would fit in the hole... not sure on how the lock mechs would go... you might have to do some creative engineering :)

I would think these handles would make your defender elegal as they would not be burst proof

a defender/county door will fit but the striker plate is different and they are fatter to allow for the wind up windows.
The military ones are county era.
If you liked the old style door handle the county door would be the best go or a late series 3.

Seriously though, I think you are right ... but then each state might have it's own take on the rule?:)

Series threes and later have burst proof door locks. Side intrusion strength is less in earlier models though as the frame is thinner channel where the lock is compared to later doors.
