I'm having a bad run after letting the dealer near my D4 for a service.

I now find the dealer has returned the vehicle to me with the vehicle locked in 'valet mode' which means I can't open the tail gate, get at the spare wheel or access the service menu from the steering wheel controls and being a weekend the dealer is closed.

I know it is in 'valet mode' because the service menu flashes the message 'valet mode' when I press the tail gate button on the key fob.

To get in and out of 'valet mode' the owners manual talks about entering pin numbers into the keyboard displayed on the touch screen in the centre dash. Only thing is, I have a MY11 model which does not have the touch screen in the centre dash only the small mono chrome non touch display.

Anybody know how you get out out of 'valet mode' without the use of a touch key pad?

I reckon the dealer has done something funky. I can't find any doco on valet mode for the standard screen/audio system. If you had a MSV2 or similar you might be able reset it your self as that is what dealer does if you forget the PIN on a car that has this feature.

Peter, may be worth popping the bonnet, then letting the car go to sleep, disconnecting battery leads from the terminals then shorting them together with a spanner....just make sure they are away from the battery. Make sure you put negative battery lead back on the battery terminal last.

Worth a try mate.

Brett, I had a go at that earlier on. Does not work.

Because I can't get at the spare wheel I'm now a non starter for tomorrow.

Maybe call LR assist to see if they can help - they might be able to get someone out to help. Long shot I know.

Something wrong because I think Valet mode, lowers it and restricts speed as well

Unfortunately it will have to go back to the dealer as the code can be reset via SDD, therefore must be able to be turned off as well. How it turned on without the Sat Nav screen in the first place is a mystery?

Cheers HTH

There are lots of mysteries with this particular dealer and no there is no restriction on speed, at least not up to 120 :D

Mr dealer will be getting a visit tomorrow, we have been meeting regularly in recent times.

And it certainly does not restrict her offroad prowess!

Some pretty awesome work there again today.
