Hey guys,
I finally got my hands on a P38 after a long, hard search :D. It is a 2000 S 4.0 with leather seats, sunroof, towbar, window tinting, roof rails and only 147,000km! I absolutely love it!
The previous owner put a set of Cooper ST Max tyres on 5,000km ago. They are 245/75/R16 and in great condition. My spare is a 255/65/R16 so I am going to sell the Coopers and buy a set of smaller tyres so that I have a spare that is the same size. I have the receipt for the tyres, they were $349 each so I am hoping to sell them for $280 each or nearest offer. Anyone wanting a great set of offroad tyres should seriously consider these - or if you know of someone interested please let them know.
Look forward to sharing my P38 stories with you all!

Congrats on the new purchase! The tyres although different in size actually have the same circumference so no difference in speed if you need to put on the spare.

G'day and welcome mate! You have a neat P38 there! Do you plan to use it offroad or will she be an on-roader?
Gary, I beg to differ!
The 245's are a 31" tyre whereas the 255 he has as a spare is 29" (old speak).
Will cause problems.
I'm running 255/70 BFG muddies and the spare fits in its original location (must be deflated though).
Cheers

Thanks guys,
Yeah it will be used for mainly on road and bush. I have a hilux ute we will use up the beach for fishing and taking the dog and the rangie will be for everything else.
So Keithy, do you think a 245/75/R16 deflated would fit in the wheel well? Looking at the available space I didn't think it would.

Here's a cool site for tyre size comparisons
245/75-R16 vs 255/65-R16 Tire Comparison - Tire Size Calculator (http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/tirecalc.php'tires=245-75r16-255-65r16)
You might get the deflated 245/75/R16 into the tyre well if you put a good ratchet tie down strap around it and force it smaller.
Love the picture, is that air-con condensate underneath or has the P38 marked its new territory with some oil?

I'm with rc42 on this one, initially I removed the valve and fitted the tyre in that way (when new), it'd be touch n go with the 245/75!
Different tyres have different circumference too, you might find they fit!
Perhaps go to your local tyre shop and try with a new tyre on a rim off the shelf!

Great looking Rangie - looks just like mine!
I just bought a set of 245/75-16's and there's no way it'll fit in the spare wheel well even with a ratchet strap... maybe if you used a strap around the deflated tyre and fed it in so the rear end goes in first to get under the lip but that'd be a bugger to maneuver and still questionable. It's a good size tyre as it's tall and only just rubs on the front mudflaps when on full lock on highway mode.
I've mounted mine vertically in the rear and now have a big space to put stuff in the spare wheel well. I discovered the sub had blown both speakers and I never listen to CDs so that all came out and now I keep a compressor and recovery gear behind the spare so there's still a lot of usable space.
I'll have to take some more photos of how I secured it but this will give you an idea - it's tied down to 3 points on the floor. I have some clear pvc hanging over the back of the seat to protect that and I now have a rubber floor mat to go under it. Don't wont that lovely carpet ruined!

What is the steel rim you are using from/off?

I bought a set of D2 rims for these tyres and have kept the originals with HT tyres for road trips etc. I want to replace the steel spare with an alloy so I can rotate all 5.

Rc42 it is of course air-conditioning water. There were a few oil leaks prior to purchase but they were fixed in order to get the roadworthy at our local Land Rover mechanic so fingers crossed!
Yes it is a shame to be getting rid of these tyres, but they are a bargain for someone looking for a great set of offroad tyres.
I drove my father in-laws 200 series Landcruiser Sahara twin turbo diesel to Toowoomba and back today and I still prefer driving my P38!!!!!:):):) not to mention the $$$$$$$$ difference between the two!

Keith, you're right. I had the Cooper ST 225/75/16's as the standard size tyre. Now long gone....

Congrats on the new Rangie, nice looking example you have there!
I had a couple of the wheel center caps missing on mine too, you can get them on ebay,
NEW Range Rover Sport Vogue P38 Alloy Wheel Center Caps SET 4 63mm Green SIL | eBay (http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NEW-OEM-Range-Rover-Sport-Vogue-P38-Alloy-Wheel-Center-Caps-Set-4-63mm-Green-Sil-/281098428667?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item4172c5a0fb)
that was the first thing I did for mine!
Quickly followed by changing all the fluids...as you do.

Thanks for that link PeterH!
I had planned on buying a set of them, I am only missing one at the moment. Have you bought many thinks on eBay for your rangie from the UK? I was a little weary about buying off eBay overseas so just wondered what people's experiences were.
Thanks

I have bought a lot from eBay internationally with no bad experiences at all!
Check the sellers rating and feedback to see what kind of person you are dealing with!
I normally use Island 4x4 - Specialists in Land Rover and Range Rover Parts and accessories for all models. I have bought parts off ebay, as keithy said, check the sellers rating, but I've never had any troubles.
I usually get my parts from a very trusted local supplier who is pretty cometitive with price, plus I always get the right part and good advice to go with it.
I like to support local business where possible, but sometimes it makes sense to get things from overseas.

Lots of parts from uk. I prefer to support local, but when there is a 4 x difference in price the choice is made easier, and it's delivered to the door :D

I learn't a hard lesson, not necessary about buying overseas, but what you buy .
I bought a set of new coolant hoses as a bundled offer off Ebay UK, not thinking that they could be bad, some were "Allmakes" and some were "Britpart" and they all seemed to be made in Malaysia. Well do you think I could stop the leaks! not on your nelly.
I took Hoover to Graeme Cooper for its regular service and fix leaks, when, at about lunch time I got the dreaded call saying that they had to replace all the hoses with genuine ones. Since then I have had not one dribble, mind you it cost about $500 for the new hoses and spring clamps.
They said there should be no compromises on the cooling system, only use genuine and I agree.

I buy from Island 4x4 cheap and so far all have been genuine parts..... last purchase was for my L322 and i bought a suspension compressor for 250 pounds .... ebay even in the uk people wanted 275 pounds....(didnt want to be going down the rebuild route)
Good company but you have to wait a while.... they like to have their 'tea and scones'

HI
I just got an order from Island 4x4 and most of the bits were Britpart.
I have had no trouble so far, including non-genuine hoses, though I did use stainless worm drive clamps on them
