D4 had first service and had oil pipe and plug mod done.
Found a large patch of oil on driveway after SWMBO left. Got her to check when she got back to the car. Yup oil puddle.
Towed to overnight lock up and back to dealer tomorrow.
Not happy. :( More importantly SWMBO not happy. :BigCry:
Find out tomorrow what happened.

Hmm... Might see you there tomorrow, as will be in for the transmission software update, and was going to get an oil change done at the same time, but I think I'll hold off...

I have a D4 and it has more oil leak than a strainer. I got it back last week after 4 times in service centre and it going back tomorrow. Very sad as I love the D4 except for the oil leaks. At least I am not the only one with problems.

Yet my 05 D3 (and probably yours Andrew) has never leaked a drip of oil on our garage floor!

So far mine had not left any traces of oil on the concrete; mud yes, but not oil.

Not a drop from mine after 2.5 years.

I hope you get it sorted.

I suspect the plug may not be in properly?

definitely the problem you want to have if you were going to have a problem.

I'm sure it will be safe to get your oil changed ;)

As it will be an optional change (5K), more to save time, I'd prefer not to risk it.

Ditto, don't understand why it should change your mind. Dealer in the past have done things right.
Manager rushing it through now. I'll see what happens.

More likely to be from a seal in the turbo oil pipe rework.

Yes, this happened to me after the new oil pipe was redone. No leaks in the 3 years prior to that. After the work - occasional drops. Took it back and they fixed it up no problems. No problems since that time.

I had years of no oil issues whatsoever with my D4 until LR changed the turbo.

I had leak after leak after that....always the same area, always related to the Turbo work.

Been fine for a while now....fingers crossed.

Exactly the issue O ring pinched when installing the oil return pipe.
Looks like a common problem when doing the mod.
Lost a lot of oil (at least two litres) but I don't think it would have affected oil pressure.
Shane pushed to have it fixed and paid for a taxi for me to collect it.
Cock up but responded to well. :D

What prompted the drain rework?

Bluish smoke on acceleration. I also noticed a lot of soot on the rear.

I need to get mine's drain changed because I suspect its the cause of the blue smoke at start-up.

I Think it's about time that LR reintroduced the feature after it's absence from the D3.
:p

The feature was released right at the beginning of the 3.0 D4's life but going out the exhaust rather than onto the ground below.

re my oil leak, repairer has said the engine block is cracked and needs a new engine. never been off the road yet. Only towed once so I guess I got a lemon.

Very strange to have a cracked block but it would go a long way to explaining continued oil leaks. I hope the vehicle is still under warranty.
