Borumbah goes bush

WE took Borumbah for a spin up in the hills behind Perth. Some serious hills and rocky river beds. See the video link below. No problems except one of the MAP hubs disengaged itself other than that it went very well. Although I am thinking of some parabolic springs, watch the video and you can see why.

This night be a silly question, but what benefit do parabolic springs offer?

HI John,

Those that have them on this site reckon they are like coils give a much better ride and articulation off road. This web site below has some useful data.

There is a couple of other companies that supply them but I cant find any Australian made for the Landrover. I have asked the Rocky Mountain supplier in Australia for a quote.:)

I had a full set once that would have fitted the S1 LWB, I sold them thinking that I would get another set later on --- bad boy ! --- spent the cash and now no parabolic's :(

I wonder if you'd get a better ride if you removed the spare from the bonnet and put it in the tray where I thought it's supposed to be? Mind you, I tried that on my S2a once and the noise of the bonnet rattling without the weight of the spare to hold it down was terrible:o. Just needs the bushings for hinges, but I like the spare on the bonnet, so the rattling was just the excuse I needed to put the spare back there.
Absolutely fantastic to see the old S1 being used in the real world, just like it was bought for originally:).

I only put the spare on the bonnet after I saw how good yours looked at the 65th Anniversary day. Its not very practical really adding a lot of weight to the bonnet but I can get the 640 KTM in the back now. Might take it for a ride soon. We had a great day, the new gear box is really good Graeme did a great job. Canopy and long range tanks coming soon and a trip with the guys to Landor races.:)
