And a few I`m guessing passed a bit sooner than they wished. Not much in the way of road safety in those days. People ambling about all over he place.

Yup! the trams from memory were withdrawn from service in 1956 or 57, the Opera house now stands where there was once a tram depot. Brisbane City Council trams were withdrawn in 1968,and all services were then by their buses,that was helped by a major fire at the Paddington Tram depot about 1964, I remember when I first moved to Sydney they were building the Opera House, aka "Bennelong Shark"
